I wish there was a face-palm emoticon for this. It's called the Developmental League for a reason. Seriously, couldn't they just put a Gatorade Logo patch on the uniforms??? G-League, lmao.

This is no different from soccer where there's the Barclay's Premier League or the Calcio Serie A

    The Gangsta League?

    Urbanization of the NBA continues.

It is, you can fully leave out the sponsor name and still have a valid league name, for example Premier League or Serie A.

In the case of G-League, it completely compromises the name, something like Gatorade D-League would have been much better. As others have said, the D for Devlopmental was an essential part.

    Depends. Could be a win/win.

If Gatorade paid enough, I understand the NBA doing this.

The massive upside for Gatorade is pretty obvious.

I don't care what the name is, I just want them to expand it to 30 teams and make it like AAA baseball

They are actively working on that, from what I've heard in an interview with the D-League (G-League ) commissioner.

Well, that is waaaayy too many teams.

MLB benefits from AAA players having few other leagues to play in. AAA has plenty of vets to school the prospects -- think Bull Durham. We talk about European leagues and club structure providing prospects with lifer veterans to go against. Veteran basketball players are spread far and wide throughout the world. We're talking about the teammates and competition of the prospects -- which make it a development league.

I very thin league of 30 teams is pretty worthless, especially at the horrible salaries that play for. f FIBA vets weren't in other leagues, then G-League could be expanded and still be rich with vets to help develop the prospects like AAA in baseball does.
