Currently averaging 21.0 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.1 bpg in 32.9 mpg Shooting FGs at 50.2%, 3PTs at 39.0%, FTs at 78.0% Porzingis can very possibly have a 50-40-80 (FG-3P-FT) season. If he were to accomplish this (which is VERY possible), it would be UNPRECEDENTED. No player in NBA history has ever had a 50-40-80 season at 21 years of age. If you were to tweak the age parameter a little bit and allow players aged 23 or younger, then there would only be 3 other guys - Mark Price (23), Byron Scott (23), Ronnie Lester (23). I don't think that Lester can even count because he didn't even average 10 FGA in his season, in fact, neither of those three guys have averaged as many FGA as Kristaps is averaging (15.5). Also, all of these 3 players are GUARDS, none taller than 6-3 as opposed to Kristaps' 7-3. It's simply mind-boggling how unique he is. I think he deserves to be an All-Star.
Melo is averaging 22.5 ppg on 46/34/86 shooting, which is decent, but Porzingis should be the true #1 option on that team.
Just watch them play. Melo is much better at creating. Porz is a strong finisher, whether by the rim or at the 3 point line. You can't compare the stats as apples to apples.
I believe he will be the best from his draft class if he stays healthy, better than Towns or Russell.
Everyone believes the Knicks should be Porkzingus' teams excet Melo Time for MElo to hand over the reigns and join Raymand Fatton at the buffet lines.
When I watch him he reminds me of Yao. Just more mobile, his legs aren't as huge so more athletic. But his movement and post ups look like yao.
I thought I was as big a fan of KP's pre-draft as there was, including dropping the workout video in here that got the talk going, but KAT is a once-every-10-year talent and Porzingis will be blessed to even stay close to him in terms of career arc. It doesn't diminish KP to state the obvious about KAT, who is one of the 10 best players in the NBA already and only going higher.
<Madison Square Garden boos heartily at the Euro looking/shooting/fundamentally sound Euro. Knicks!!!!>
If he's so great why are the Wolves so bad? The best big men in the league have always made their sucky teams reach the playoffs at least. Guys like Tim Duncan, KG, Dirk, Pau Gasol, Dwight Howard, Yao Ming, Shaq etc. He's not the best big man in the league if he can't even get his team to the 8th seed. And the Wolves shouldn't even be that bad in the first place they have a nice collection of good young players supporting Townes he's clearly not the best big man in the league and personally I would rank Porzingis over him. Porzingis can score from anywhere including the 3 pt line and he can defend and rebound better than Townes (if he wasn't camping at the 3 pt line).
