The Chandler Parsons thread has 30% the posts and almost half the views of this thread. That's not bad....

Why are Rockets' fans still talking about this guy when he's not on the team anymore? Move on guys, if you still like him then follow him where he goes and talk about him on other forums. We do not want to talk or hear about him here. F*** off.

    (I'm gonna pile on)

There must be a hell of a lot of bored people around here if a role player who left the team years ago still has a thread going at ClutchFans, a thread that's now reached 536 pages. That's beyond absurd, folks.

So you are comparing 3 good games in 21 playoff games that season is "stepping up big", and 1 bad game by Lin in a 7 game series in which Lin "stepped up big" in 3 wins? Seems like a pretty unbalanced comparison, no?

You're like a mother trying to soft pedal her kid's demotion from the starting unit. I mean... you think putting demotion in quotes somehow alters the meaning of the word or something. Dude, is this what passes for debate in the Ivy League these days? LOL Wow.

He lost his starting position and his playing time was cut. That's a demotion. You can write it as "demotion" put the meaning still applies Mama Lin. He's been a reserve guard on "multiple", with quotes to highlight the meaning of multiple, teams now. You want to continue in vain to claim some objective measure of Lin's ability over the guards he's been demoted behind but it's an absurd exercise on your part.

Anyway, I found these stats interesting since you hold Lin in such high regard. Since Lin is a vastly superior player to Patrick Beverley, these stats should be heavily in Lin's favor but they're not. Jeremy Lin is actually a career negative .2 box plus minus player and -2 in career offensive minus defensive rating per 100 possessions. The only stat below he holds an edge in is by .006% in TS%. This is the guy you've constantly railing about how he didn't get treated right and all this garbage? What an incredible delusion you LOFs have perpetrated on yourselves.

    Patrick Beverley vs Jerry Lin

    eFG%: .514 vs .481
    TS%: .538 vs .544
    Ast/TO Ratio: 2.5 vs 1.84
    ORtg - DRtg: +7 vs -2
    VORP: 5.8 vs 4.6
    BPM: 1.7 vs -.2
    WS/48: .110 vs .094

Lin the trend-setter. Where can I sign up? Do I get a free vinyl every month?

They are very different players with different strengths and weaknesses, and it's not even a question regarding who's skill set works better playing next to Harden vs. leading the 2nd unit. You can quote all the stats you want, but that's the cold hard fact. If it makes you happy to call it a demotion, that's fine with me...but the reason for doing it wasn't because Patrick Beverley outplayed Lin.

Yet Lin never got out of the first round because he choked it away.

Yes, Because Lin 'choked it away' that's why his team lost right? Not because kemba was 3/16, not because Kaminsky was 3/15

Well, Barea was lucky to have a great team around him that year Dallas got out of the first round, because in that first round against Portland, Barea shot 12-35 (.342) and was a total of -12 for the series.

They are different and yet the preponderance of Beverley's numbers, even offensive numbers, are objectively superior. Beverley outplayed Lin in the minds of the coaches in practice and he's outplayed him on the stat sheet over the course of their careers. Beverley is a better player.

The Rockets were completely justified in benching Lin and limiting his minutes in favor of Beverley. Your rhetoric about Lin being treated unfairly in Houston has no basis. It's delusional fan hyperbole at its worst. He was given a significant contract by the Rockets, his performance was underwhelming, and he was replaced in the starting lineup like any player would in the same situation. They hoped he would become a Manu type player having the freedom to create off the bench and he was once again underwhelming.

Even more funny is the claim that Lin played great in these playoffs and only had one bad game. His playoff numbers are very close to his regular season numbers. He didn't play great, he played like he always plays.

You are completely wrong about Beverly being the better player. Offensively Lin is better in creating shoots for himself and his teammates. Beverly lacks in both these skills. Defensively Lin is better again as he has improve in has coverage and following the team sets. Again, Beverly fairs in both these areas. Beverly is only good with his hustle and his football tactics on Curry and Westbrook. Cosgomets is good at english grammar but not good at basketball IQ.
