The '16 recruiting class was already looking really good thus far.

Throw in a Peach Bowl ASS whipping of FSU, and now knowing they'll have Ward's replacement for '17......NTL signing day is going to be interesting!!

Saying anything negative about or threatening to the program will get you banned there pretty quickly. It's one of the worst moderated forums I've ever seen.

It really is, every big topic has at least 5 different threads, and they act like recruits make decisions based on what posters say.

They are correct that recruits (friends and family of, etc), the media, and members of the administration read those boards and posts, but they're wildly inconsistent in how they enforce the rules (if there really are any) and sometimes just downright stupid/illogical. For example, they have an insanely strict policy on profanity, but you can post basically softcore p*rn and no one bats an eye.

It's really just a place where a bunch of so-called insiders, mostly friends from the 1970s, get together and wax about the good old days and grouse about kids and the media and UT. Our older fanbase really is a bunch of paranoid coots.

Just keep in mind that Herman was offered a raise, and TURNED down half the raise and asked that the money be put into the football program. He is doing a lot of things consistent with staying long term.

Yes he could leave but he seems different than most other people.

Long term going to the SEC will make TAMU a dominant football team.

    Can you elaborate on this?

    His salary was essentially doubled.

He got an extra 200K for his pool of assistants.

Part of his contract was stipulations for completion dates on certain football related facilities (whereas his salary increases X amount if those buildings are not built by Y dates).

Are you serious that he was offered 4.5MM in salary (up from 1.5MM) and turned down half of that to settle on 3MM?

From what I heard he was offered 4 mil and turned down 1 mil of that to settle on 3 mil. He wanted the rest to go into the program. It really does seem like he's more interested in building the UH program than he is of maximizing his earnings in the short term. I mean, he's still making a ton of money.

What I have been told is:

The Regents offered him $3,000,000 "as a starting point for negotiations". They expected to go much higher if necessary. They were willing to offer him as many years (within reason) that he wanted.

He took their initial offer (with very little negotiations) and asked that any other money be put back into the football program. All the negotiations centered around improving the program and not money for Herman.

At least that is what I was told by a close friend that would certainly would know.

TCU coaches seem to think King won't qualify. Might be sour grapes, might be true. Sells, Postma, Allen, King competition for 2017 QB position is pretty salty.

King wasn't staying at QB at UH anyway.

I was going to say the same, and it wouldn't have been smart for him to want to stay at QB either. His future is as a receiver.

Im almost certain King would stay at qb here. i bet he saw what ward is doing and thought how he can be the next ward.

If he ever wants to play in the NFL it'll be as a slot receiver. He's 5'9, that means corner, RB, or slot receiver. I think he might as well embrace that now.

What about that 2017 commit. Forgot his name but he's 6'2 dual threat 4 star. Hope he doesn't leave

Same can be said of Ward. Didn't stop him though.

The QB competition will be quite open.
