Oladipo could shoot before he got there. He was a very promising player prior to going, and his game regressed next to Westbrook. He didn't get the ball enough. It seems like you were only referring to 3-point shooters. Every shot doesn't have to be a 3. Wetsbrook had capable scorers, and we were actually discussing their efficiency on the break. I'm not sure why you would only limit it to 3 point shooters.
How about you just look at actual GAME FOOTAGE of his team clearing out for him on missed FT's so he can grab the board? This article has plenty of examples, as well as a quote for Adams about clearing out for him to get boards. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-domination-is-not-as-impressive-as-it-seems/ I point to clear data that supports what shouldn't be hard to see on the court. Westbrook camped in the lane giving dudes wide open shots. When we see the Rockets start to scheme to get him boards, or players happily giving up boards to him and going on record that they are doing it, then we can compare.
^^what this guy said. I don’t care if he gets every single rebound, I’ll take him “stealing” rebounds from our soft ass center over not blocking out like Harden and CP3 the last two seasons. Speaking of, that rim shattering, two handed put back dunk he had right before the end of the first half...go back and check the highlights if you want to see a great example of CP3’s effort on the boards because he’s the one who left Russy come in untouched.
He's good at "stealing" rebounds from the Thunder. and I'm glad he did. we needed everyone of them last night.
If you watch the game then this thread wouldn't be here in the first place. NO he was not stealing rebound... Actually after watching him play as a rockets the guys just snatches & goes after every rebound possible to him. This is what we need from all our guys and that's also something we're sh*tty at hence why we're a mediocre to a shitty rebounding team. Glad we have Russ to snatch some of the boards.
Here's another. Capela complies by stepping away ($500k bonus be damned), but PJ doesn't, jumping aggressively when all opps are retreating. PJ: "Stay down, little man."
Also, the fast break works best the faster you get the ball in his hands. If that means stepping away from and uncontested rebound to put it in his hands faster that's fine. He's gong to get it upcourt faster than Capela.
Agree. Most casual fans enamor speeds, fast break & wild dunks and despise Harden's game because all they see is him shooting free throw. As a rockets fan, we know harden penetrates to score & he shoots so many 3s that players kept fouling him & that's also why his FT keeps ballooning. The casual fans would say they hate his game because he plays to get foul instead of scoring the buckets but if these idiots watch the game defenders just couldn't keep their hands off of him.
Not when teams are running on the break. The Thunder schemed to get Westbrook boards off of missed FT's and other opportunities, so he could push the pace. Put their offensive efficiency was not great in those instances. You are overstating 3-point shooting and spacing in those situations. The Thunders spacing wasn't horrible. That's not why Westbrook was a high shooting, turnover prone guard. He had other solid offensive options and ignored them. Even when he had great spacing with Durant he ignored him to chuck shots too.
