Unfortunately his Defense isn't that good but he would be much better than many 36 year olds on this team.

The team with yao and tmac that has Battier and arrest was the best. You had two shut down defenders with a anchor in the middle, not to mention tmac who was a really good defender also

Just looked up the 2008-9 teams roster. Man was that team loaded. Lowry, tmac, Battier, scola and yao with Brooks, skip to my Lou, arrest, Barry and mutumbo off the bench. That team could take on the warriors dynasty and not blink an eye if they had stayed healthy. So sad

This is my response to those who in years past accused Morey of never having put together a title contender in his Rockets tenure.

The 08-09 Rockets are the NBA Finals champion until both Deke and Yao go down in the playoffs (I don't even count McGrady).

Scola would do fine in the NBA. I’d take him as our back up PF right now.

He definitely would be an improvement over Clark and Bennett. And he would be great as the small ball C with his 3-point shot.

He can’t rebound for ****. Never could.

Love him but we don’t need what he provides on this team right now

Def not at this point . I don’t even know if Clark or Bennett are gonna make the rotation. But scola doesn’t have nba athleticism at this point. He couldn’t defend anyone and isn’t gonna be able to get his shot off unless someone sets him up with a WIDE OPEN look

As TheresTheDagger used to tell me even back then, Scola has Old Man Game (ie, not that athletic, can't jump, just uses smarts to get 'er done). So, not surprising that he can still do it. The type of game that carries with age.

Luis Scola still only has one celebration move: the fist pump.

    Scola is the tournament MVP.

Sign this guy now. I'll take him over Chandler.

Would rather have Scola than Hartenstein on the bench.

I thought he was always a solid rebounder for the Rockets. Maybe my memory is hazy.

On top of the players that you mentioned, I think we also had Landry and Hayes?

Man, I was full of hope when we took game one at the lakers. With Yao and Tmac down, we still took lakers until game 7. It was very hurtful knowing that we had a great overall roster back there.

I also remember him as a 7 to 8 per game rebounder, nothing elite but solid numbers.

He probably meant in the clutch, he was not enough to get past the Jazz as well.
