    Maybe because they are not illegal if they are following the laws around asylum seeking?

    It's disingenuous to think that an immigrant from Honduras or El Salvador has the means to come here, and claim asylum, then have the means to turn around and call up their hot shot attorney in California to file a law suit on their behalf.

    This was filed by civil rights groups like the ACLU on their behalf. Blame those groups if you want to, but trying to paint a picture of spoiled grifters coming here to suck your wallet dry is disingenuous at best. Those people are just trying to give their kids a better life and make some money cleaning up your sh$t.

    Painting a narrative of these folks as spoiled grifters who sport litigate is a new low even for you.

    Well, first you have to believe that they are legitimate asylum seekers, and not part of some Soros-funded and planned invasion.

    To be clear, I do believe that we need labor from the south on several fronts. It's true that no native-born American will pick strawberries in the Valley.

    So, we should come up with a better program for letting workers -- I said *workers* -- in.

    But that doesn't mean they should be able to use social services. That should be restricted to citizens, and even that needs to be cut back.

    They don't need any means to call up a plaintiff's attorney and file a lawsuit on their behalf. There is probably a line of plaintiff's attorneys a mile long who are waiting to take these types of cases.

    Immigration status, at least in Texas, has never been a bar to recovery in the civil system (or at least not in a long time).

    Jim Adler doesn't care what your legal status is. Tire blow out? In the country illegally? No problem.

    I'm not sure how lawsuits around this issue will play out vis-a-vis sovereign immunity. If the federal government allows itself to be sued, you're probably going to see a lot of lawsuits having to do with federal detentions.

    There are Prisoners Conditions Laws as well as warfare with Humanitarian Law of Armed Conflicts. Why is it a bad idea to have humane detention laws?

    If you are against humane conditions for another human being, illegal or not, then you are an evil person and not a man of God if that is your thing.

    It isn't. This is the worst parts of the conservative id on full display. Punishment being mistaken for order. Means being more important than outcomes. Righteousness inviting cruelty.

    I am hearing Fox News claim that they don’t have standing to sue because they are not US citizens. This is really early law school stuff, you don’t have to be a citizen to have standing to sue. The Supfeme Court has ruled on this a number of times... Fox isn’t even trying anymore.

    Which they could easily avoid...if only.....wait for it....they don't cross illegally.

    But then again, I'm not sure I would concede that conditions are "inhumane." It's another ruse by the left to import more voters.

    They aren't suing because it wasn't the Ritz Carleton. They are suing because the conditions were inhumane. We've seen reports about the kinds of conditions. They are absolutely inhumane.

    Add to that the fact that many of them weren't arrested for breaking the law. They were legal asylum seekers.

    I am not sure when this started but Republicans have started having real difficulty understanding laws and checks and balances under our government and legal system.
