The statisticians, no, they just stated the odds. The talking heads, yes, they made predictions. But Newt is one of the latter.

The only thing that can get him as excited as Brexit is the democratic primary.

I think the Democratic candidates and the party as a whole needs to tap the breaks on the white supremacist and racist labels.

They are playing into the media hands that love to stir the pot.

At this point it does not serve a purpose and only serves to distract from laying out a plan for the future.

It's a sad state of affairs but most voters don't really care, voters who are not going to vote for him will not be energized by this but Trumps voters could be, I think this topic could be the difference between sitting at home or voting out of spite.

The number 1 thing to harp on with Trump is his broken promises to the middle class and his policies benefiting the rich.

Everything else is just noise and a distraction.

Abandoning the race vitriol is a more complicated task for the Democrat left than what you seem to be considering. The central pillar of the Democrat left's current political values are a rather virulent combination of "Identity politics"and "Political correctness".

As a result, what you are suggesting is probably not achievable at the current time. It appears that the Democrats have gone passionately all-in with these value choices and are going to have to stick with them until at least November 2020, at the earliest.

Curious. Who has a more nuanced fleshed out ideas on healthcare? Or education, or consumer debt?

    Trump or Warren?

This isn't me asking who you agree with. This is me asking who has more nuanced ideas on these subject matters.

We can draw comparisons between the general election candidates once the Democrats pick one.

If that choice turns out to be Elizabeth Warren, that will be positively delightful.

Lol Warren (or any candidate) won the second you mentioned “ideas on healthcare”.

Trumps “healthcare ideas” stop at destroying Obamacare. Dude campaigned on Medicare for all too lol.

Are you not going to answer his question?

Can you not at least place a empty political drawing in place of your non answer reply?

    None of that is true.

Biden is not taking the bait and he continues to lead the polls.

But go ahead with your talking points that brings you so much comfort.

It reminds me of the Cold War debates on who could be tougher on communism. And the '80s debates on who could be tougher on drugs and crime. This is just in the primary and probably won't extend into the general. But, the same way politicians needed to burnish their bona fides about communism or crime, these liberal candidates need to show they are tough on racism. E.g., what good is solving the college debt problem if you'll still perpetuate racial injustice? I think you're right that if you're trying to convert a white, noncollege, Midwestern voter who voted for Trump in 2016, it's not helpful. But, to get your share of the primary vote in New York City or Los Angeles, there is a segment of the voter base that requires that you show you give a damn about what happens to blacks and latinos. So you need to do a little bit of everything -- for those who care foremost about their economic security, tell them how the Trump Bump has excluded the middle class, for those who care about the hispanic community, tell them about how Trump's immigration policy is tearing families apart, etc. You have to stand for many things at the same time.

The latest YouGov (national) poll shows Biden and Warren in a statistical dead heat. Sanders is within striking range and Harris is trailing Biden almost 3-1.

    YouGov: Biden 23, Warren 20, Sanders 16, Harris 8, Buttigieg 6, O'Rourke 5

The path for Harris has always been heavy reliance on the race and woman's cards. It is the end of the summer and everyone is on vacation, so it really does not make any sense for her to make a strong move right now. But after Labor day, she is going to have to come heavy with the incendiary racism and the PC woman's card entitlement agendas, or she is not just not going to be truly competitive.

It looks like Billionaire Tom Steyer may have succeeded in buying himself a spot in the September debates. Here are some comments from Montana Governor Steve Bullock saying as much:

Bullock: DNC Rules Have Allowed Billionaire Tom Steyer To Buy A Spot On Presidential Debate Stage

Democratic governor of Montana and 2020 hopeful Steve Bullock joined MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Tuesday to discuss reports that billionaire environmental activist Tom Steyer has qualified for the upcoming presidential primary debate.

"I'm working it every day and I have a ways to go," Bullock said about qualifying. "I think the DNC rules were well-intentioned, but what it really has done is allowed a billionaire to buy a spot on the debate stage. Tom Steyer just spent ten million dollars to get 130,000 donors. We're getting to the point where we're spending money online as opposed to actually talking to voters. The Republican Party all throughout 2015 had a 1% threshold. It is a rough day when Democrats are less inclusive than Republicans."

"Grassroots support and elections are about people to talking to people," he said. "Not billionaires being able to spend a whole lot of money to buy Facebook ads, and that's what all the campaigns are starting to do. As well-intentioned as this might be, it is not too late for the DNC... to say, 'let's make sure that it is the early state voters who take a large field and winnow it down.'"

Joe Biden is the frontrunner. Think about that and what it says about this field.

To be fair, it is the dog days of summer and everyone is on vacation and most people are not paying attention to this stuff yet. However, that being said, which one of these other candidates appears to have the gravitas to take the top spot from Biden? I cannot see any such candidate at this time.

Trump has not seemed to be affected by it.

    He has lowered the bar.
