I wonder why he's coming here. Doesn't seem to have any obvious ties to the area or our staff.

Not great also that he was just flat out kicked out of school.

I'm a fan of guys "coming home", big-time recruits who go out of state and end up not working out for one reason or another, typically these guys end up blossoming here with the increased familiarity and support structure.

But random talented guys who just get kicked out of programs or schools and are just looking for playing time... not so much.

Definitely will have to sit.

 

I don't know the specifics or why he was told to leave Alabama, but he is a monster prospect. He was third in his entire draft class a year ago and was productive when he played last year as a true freshman. UH is going to try and get him eligible to play right away with a waiver, but they know he may have to sit a year. In the past the Board of Regents and Renu would not allow players with too much baggage, so I am assuming he didn't do anything sexual or violent.

The basketball program is fairly confident they are about to add a good center from out of state for the 2020 class (Kiyron Powell).

This is my thought about Anoma, too. What in God's name can get a 5* recruit kicked out of school at ALABAMA?! Looking a white woman in the eyes? Really is a tad concerning. Whatever it is, I guess he wasn't arrested. Sure looks like a monster talent, but a kid from Baltimore(!) coming on down to Houston after getting his walking papers from the state of Alabama seems like an awkward fit to me.
