He's going to need an extra day between his next start not less as to rest his arm after that 350 foot long toss.
All these “insiders” now saying the Astros are interested in the Mets pitchers. I’d stake my left nut that the Astros and Mets don’t make a trade. This is all smoke screen bs probably being leaked out by the Mets to drum up a market for their guys. I still maintain that there is one guy and one guy only the Astros would do a deal for as a SP and that’s Madison Bumgarner. Why? Because the Astros don’t need a #3-4 starter. With Miley and the long guys in our bullpen, the Astros could go to battle with what they have. Bumgarner is the only elite pitcher really available. I think the Astros would do that deal because of the postseason pedigree. Does anyone really think any of the other SPs available would put a team over the top? Haven’t heard much on the Bumgarner front for anyone, which makes me think there are real talks going on there. All this crap that is leaked to the “insiders” is just that.
You haven't heard anything about MadBum because the latest reports are that the Giants are likely buyers since they're only 2.5 games back from the WC. No idea why they do that, but then again I didn't expect Stroman to go to the Mets so what do I know
Hey guys, remember these doozies from 2017? These insiders don’t know Jack. https://www.sbnation.com/2017/7/29/16062432/mlb-trade-rumors-justin-verlander-tigers https://bleacherreport.com/articles...dly-not-expected-to-be-traded-before-deadline
I don’t really believe at the end of the day the Giants are buyers. I believe that too is a smoke screen. They have next to no chance to win the WS. I don’t think the Giants are dumb enough to “go for it” in this day and age of analytics, which strongly say to sell, but then again their GM traded Yordan Alvarez for Josh Fields so who knows.
The only guy out there worth giving up Tucker for would be Castillo from Cincinnati but I doubt they’d do it.
If AZ is willing to pay about 20 of the 70 mil owed to Greinke in '20 + '21 he'd be the one I'd be trying to get.
Tucker/Urquidy/fisher? I'd do that a heart beat. I think Castillo has Ace potential and with the right mentor ship by Verlander/Strong I think he turns out legit.
Jon Gray dominated the Dodgers last night. With 2.5 years left, they isn't any pressure to trade him, but he could be on the move.
Starting pitchers % chance of getting traded to Houston: Ray 20% Greinke 15% Syndergaard 15% Wheeler 10% Boyd 10% Minor 10% Lynn 10% Bumgarner 5% J Gray 5% Other (Bundy, Duffy, Heaney, Leake, Gonzales, Smith, Richards, Castillo, Archer, Marquez) 10%
True, I don't think the Astros are looking for a 1-3 anymore. I think they feel they can get by in the playoffs with out top 3 and the offense. in all fairness, Verlander was not traded before the deadline
I’d ask them to pay $40 and throw in Avilla and then give them their choice of Tucker or Whitley, and any 2 other prospects that they want. Solves pretty much all our problems thru 2020 and sets us up to be the early favorite to win the WS in 2020 while also staying under the cap.
