Remember when people wanted to trade Bregman for Chris Sale? No? Me neither.

I am all-in on this. Signals that they are going to make a play to keep Cole too.

I know everyone thinks Cole is gone but i still contest this depends if they win the WS. Cole and Verlander are also very tight. He will most likely be gone.

I’d say it’s more likely 50/50 at this point. To me, it’s going to come down to which of Cole, Correa or Springer we decide we can’t keep. Wheeler would certainly help keep the options open to a Cole contract.

Correa and Cole are on track to get $200M+ each, while Springer is on track for something closer to half that. Springer is also a better clubhouse presence and fan favorite. I think they’ll try to extend Springer this offseason. I consider the odds of resigning Cole to be close to zero; winning a WS might change things, but otherwise I don’t see how it’s possible.

Ray, Chafin, and Avila would be a nice trio to round out Houston’s roster.

We will have the financial room to fit 25-30 mil in for Cole. It’s just a matter of creativity.

I'm surprised there's been no talk of Caleb Smith. He is under control until I think 2023 so it would take a massive, massive haul for him but he's just in his second season and is a strikeout machine but prone to the long ball. After tonight he's got a 119/31K/BB ratio over 97 innings with a below 1.00 WHIP. Plus he's a lefty.

I feel bad for whoever pays Correa that money. Can anyone else give me an example of a young star player like Correa who got hurt every year and then one day signed a mega contract and never got hurt again? I’m serious when I ask this question. There could be somebody?

    P.S. I love Carlos Correa

One of Wheeler, Syndergaard, Greinke, or Ray to go with Tony Watson would work for me.

Fun story about Caleb Smith... he’s from Huntsville and went to SHSU and was drafted by the Yankees. I was a freshman at Sam Houston writing for the school paper (and my brother’s name is Caleb Smith) during his second year in the minors. Got to interview him via twitter messages for a story on him. Seemed like a pretty down to earth guy.

Springer didn’t play a full season till age 26.

Correa injuries have been very flukeish... doesn’t mean he won’t get injured again, but he’s still young enough to eventually have a full healthy season.

Can Bauer pitch on Thursday against Cleveland if we get him?
