Do we think NOP will have a NBA team much longer?

Seems now would be a great time to cash in and move to Seattle.

if I'm Pels, i ask AD to stay and trade Zion + salary for Lebron.

and THEN fall into mediocrity and send everybody out lololol

Except now the Pelicans can possibly have BOTH Zion and AD.

Not sure I'd do that trade. Might be better for the next couple years...but worse for the decade+ after that.

Can Warriors do a sign and trade Durant for Zion? Does NOP have enough salary fillers?

Pelicans might be able to get AD to stay if he's convinced KD will stick around long term.

The rest of the NBA will hate Warriors even more.

    nope,

assuming a trade for AD, and the draft order goes Zion, Ja and then RJ Barret, Bos has the least to offer

NYK has the best hand, by far
RJ barret and Zion, the dynamic duo from Duke, both avg > 20 PPG, will team up again in the pros
Smith is a proven NBA baller who avg close to 20ppg, and is still in his rookie contract
Ntilikina is there to male the contract $ match, so to speak.

but NYK must make the trade before FA begins,
    LAL
having th #4 pick makes their hand better than Bos',
who is high on Qty, not so much on quality

Would Zion consider not turning pro this year to avoid the Pelicans?

That would be the dumbest business decision.

Never know what team might get #1 next year. PHX, CLE, etc. And then you'll have wasted a year of your young life not earning NBA money.

The Pelicans don't deserve another once-in-a-generational talent, after how they wasted AD's.

The biggest detriment was Dell Demps. He was clearly trying to save his job and not build a team for most of his time there.

You think Zion could attract some players who want to play with him

People tend to forget that AD is as close to a pure talent level that Lebron and Giannis are, has been straight dominating for years - yet has not had success because of a lackluster front office surround him with crap players (ala Lebron this year, yet its AD's whole career).

As good as Zion can and may be, if they can't do it with AD, then they won't do it with Zion unless they keep AD and the team is just accidentally becomes good in a couple of years. In the end, they simply just don't deserve Zion - yet they will be rewarded yet again and have the potential to waste another great talent. People just don't want to go to NOLA via free agency (top free agents), and they suck at trading for assets.

Now the Pelicans have an excuse to deal AD to the Lakers.

    1. Dennis Smith is NOT A BALLER.
He's never averaged more than 15 PPG even on a tanking Mavericks team. Dallas saw the potential and traded him while they could for Porzingis. He's an undersized combo guard with volume scoring, which aren't as valuable as they used to be. Meanwhile, Brown and Tatum each average about 15 PPG efficiently on a stacked team as the 2nd and 3rd options behind Kyrie while also competing with Hayward, Rozier, Smart, and Horford for shots and minutes.

    2. Would you seriously take RJ Barrett over Brown and Tatum?
The Duke connection is meaningless in the NBA. David Griffin is trying to build the best NBA ready team, not a Krzyzewski's boys reunion. Griffin will go with the players that provide him with most potential at multiple positions. Other GMs in the league would agree and value Brown and Tatum more.

    3. The Lakers 4th overall is not going to land a potential star in a top 3-heavy draft.
Meanwhile, the rest of their package looks like Lonzo is a bust and Ingram has serious medical issues with the clot.

You have the right to your opinion, but to say the Celtics have the worst package to offer is not based on any real evaluation of the players involved. Perhaps, you're looking at one bad playoff series against the top seed in the East and making a rush judgement like all the hot takes in the media.

He hasn’t had success because his impact is overrated and he can’t stay healthy.

Bill Plaschke is on Around The Horn saying that people have told him that NOP will not deal AD to the Lakers at all (Period, not being traded to the Lakers) on principle alone.

Not sure how credible he is but that should make things interesting since the Lakers are likely going to trade their pick anyways...and no, before anyone brings it up, I seriously doubt the Rockets have the assets for the #4 pick unless LeBron REALLY wants to play with CP3 in LA.
