It's about re-tooling, and if Paul is unable to remain healthy then we aren't winning with him on the roster anyway. He certainly hasn't done James any favors this season. If he can't stay healthy, that contract will soon become John Wall-tier untradable. It was a worthy gamble. It didn't pay off.
First, the idea of rebuilding when you have James Harden playing at an all-time level is silly. Second, the Rockets will still be over the 109M cap next year with this trade. So you simply are blowing the team up for the sake of blowing it up. The Rockets wouldn’t gain cap space to sign another superstar until after the 2019-2020 season, so you are essentially pissing away the next two seasons of James Harden’s prime, unless the Rockets use their 43-44 million in expiring contracts (Knight, Plumlee, Nene and Gordon) to acquire Davis, Bradley Beal or maybe someone like C.J. McCollum. Considering they would be the ones providing draft picks to get CP3’s deal off the books, it hurts their chances of trading for that second star.
I got this guys.... Shumpert, 2021 & 2023 2nd to Grizzles for J.Green Hartenstein to Grizzles for cash Baldwin + cash to Bulls Stauskas placed on waivers with assurance someone will pick him up (I think he can get that). Sign Ellington to vet min Sign House with a small portion of MLE or convert him We duck lux taxes and improve the roster. Paul / Rivers Gordon / Ellington / Green Harden / House / Ennis Tucker / Green / Clark Capela / Faried / Nene SHIP RIGHTED.
Everything indicates that Shumpert is here to stay. Your plan could still work if we dump Nene using the 2nds you mentioned above, though we’d need more depth at the 4 (we could offload Ennis and sign a guy like Wilson Chandler)
I’m only doing one of these moves. Baldwin to bulls to open up a spot for a buyout. I’m keeping shumpert and Sauce Castillo
The roster is still unbalanced and not having any roster spots for buyouts bothers me. I think they need to do something like the below. HOU IN: J Green MEM IN: Nene, Hartenstein and Ennis Then sign Jordan (buyout) and House. CP3/Rivers/Baldwin Harden/Shumpert/Stauskas Gordon/House/Green PJ/J Green/Clark Capela/Faried/Jordan
Wow, I didn't know that. Zach probably has some gas left if he is fit, despite not playing a game this season. Thanks.
Last year Z-Bo was still putting up 14 points 6 boards on 35 percent 3s and 47 percent shooting. Definitely worth a shot trying to grab to give PJ tucker a break here and there.
I never heard he was injured or being shunted aside for younger guys; I guess Zach wasn't into playing after his personal tragedy. In any case, I wish him the best.
Incoming knee jerk: Trade Harden for Lebron Sign n' trade for Kyrie Somehow get rid of Clint's contract and go hard at KD. Not likely to happen, but one can hope...
Rockets need a bench. They are going to lose alot of players this year. Why not... With taking on Crabbe salary they could actually trade him with another player for a better players. Leaves alot of options. Joe Harris is top 3pt shooter in the league. Put James back at Point.. You have Paul running the show with Russell going back to his natural sg spot, and this would help the nets with there team in the east drastically by only giving up joe as major peice. Getting Eric for Waiters/Johnson/Winslow seems a bit high for Heat, but the rockets would have to include some future picks in heats favor.
My Fan Fiction PHI doesn't want to lose Jimmy for nothing. NO doesn't want to rebuild and stay competitive. HOU goes all in. HOU gets Anthony Davis / Elfrid Payton (or a player that makes above 2M) PHI gets Gordon and 1st round pick NO gets Capela Jimmy (opt in) HOU future 1st round pick Please make strong and funny jokes about my pipe dream.
