Nope, that money isn't fully guaranteed. If he gets cut at the end of the year he gets $9,862,400 more and that's the end of it. Of course he would have the opportunity to sign elsewhere, but no one is going to give him the kind of money he could make if the Niners keep him. His cash is pretty much guaranteed one year at a time so they could cut him at any point.

I am very curious to see how they will keep that talented roster together in the long term.

Kaepernick has a very team friendly contract and the 49ers draft well.

If true Goodell should be fired along with the entire NFL legal team. That is absurd. I think of all the injured medical patients in Texas who have been stiffed by our ridiculous tort laws. They were actually deserving.

If true it just shows how F'd the league would have been if their private emails and messages went public. Smart to settle.

You think Goodell gave the A-OK without hearing from his bosses- the owners of all the teams...especially the established owners?

NFL Paid Under $10 Million to Settle Colin Kaepernick Grievance

Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid, the NFL stars who alleged the league’s teams colluded to keep them off the field after they led protests during the national anthem, will receive less than $10 million to settle grievances with the league, according to people briefed on the deal.

The confidential agreement was widely celebrated as a victory for the players. But the settlement is far less than the tens of millions of dollars Mr. Kaepernick, especially, would have likely been owed if his grievance had prevailed.

I can't believe this was 5 years ago. Time flies.

That makes sense, multiple tens of millions without playing another down probably wasn't happening.

He keeps running his mouth instead of being humbled. What owner or GM wants that attention, saying “they scared, stop running”?

I’m not sure what yesterday’s workout actually proved. He was throwing against air and everyone already knows he has a big arm. Owners just aren’t willing to deal with the consequences/fallout of signing him even if they are on the “wrong side of history.”

The one thing teams care about above all else is if he'll kneel since no talent is worth that amount of trouble. Also, what is separating more and more quarterbacks nowadays is their ability to run. Did he run during his workout?

Exactly. He talks a lot of trash for being at most a backup qb now. No owners will want to sign him, unless the owner would want the media attention it would bring.

I dunno. I could see a team like the Dolphins or the Bengals taking a flyer on him for the rest of a season. If he works out, he can be a mentor to a QB they'll eventually select. If it doesn't work, then cut bait at the end of the season.
