Gibbs is well thought of, but just not as well regarded as another candidate.

Deruyter is likely to take the UH DC job.

I'm a little concerned that somebody we considered (at least rumored to) for DC was only good enough to get a safeties coach on a poor defensive team like Tech. However that is where Gibbs is DC, and I'm a big fan of his, so I don't know.

I'm officially all in on Deruyter.

UH was never pursuing him to be DC, just an assistant coaching job. Dana got his first choice.

He is the first choice of Dana.

UH interviewed him as a possible HC before Dana committed.

Money isnt an issue, CAL will have to pay him more to keep him and that is where it is at. I was told the Regents expect to get him signed, would be a surprise if he isn’t.

He is a very good DC, he has done wonders at CAL... almost cut their points allowed in half and has done well at TAMU as well.

    So did I.

I was told that he was likely to come and money wasn’t going to be an issue.

I've never heard of anybody when they announce these things, so I'll wait and see. No Arkansas St. fans are laughing at us yet, so I take that as a good sign.

The Ask Madden button is an upgrade over D'Onofrio. Not who I was hoping for, but I'll trust the folks making the decisions.

Cauthen is about as “no name” as you can get. Wow. Doesn’t mean he won’t do a good job, but it’s damn hard to get excited about him. He runs an aggressive defense though, so that should be fun.

Me too we haven't had any Arky St. fans come on forums and tell us we just got duped like Miami fans did when Coach NoD was hired.

Houston has hired Louisiana DB coach Zac Etheridge to serve in the same capacity. Etheridge spent one year with the Ragin' Cajuns, joining the school from Western Carolina. If the name sounds familiar, Etheridge was a team captain for Auburn who played four years for the school from 2007-2010.

A big difference when you hire a program-building coach like Dana as opposed to guys coming in who want to do just enough to quickly jump ship (or are just incompetent).

Didn't they have to pull the redshirts on some of those olineman in 2015 because we had so many injuries up front ?

It's easy to say that but when you have an admin who will fire you for going 8-4 redshirting may not be a luxury some can afford.
