what % of americans agree with you that you cannot never have a secure border without a vanity steel slat fencing?

I'm not really worried about it. I never supported a full wall, but to say we don't need to improve current walls and add, well, that's just pure tribalism.

Sure, I mean, it's inaccurate, but at least it's not over the top nonsense that kills credibility. When they've been put up border barriers have proven effective which is part of the reason why everyone including nearly all Democrats supported them before their feelings about Trump forced them to flip flop on the issue.

Wow great insight there. I am now convinced of your sides argument. Border walls FTW. Then we fire all border patrols since the problem is now solved.

I presented an argument add something to it or don’t reply.

Have we ever gotten an answer as to why Republicans didn't pass wall funding when Republicans controlled Congress?

Yes, it was because Democrats filibustered it in the Senate after it passed the house. You should know that.

I will answer my own question.

In February 2018, both votes that included wall funding failed, one failed 39 to 60 and the other failed 55 to 45. Looks like they could not get enough Republican support for the one bill that could have passed. Sloppy leadership.

When you have a party that is dead set on obstructionism and will not even entertain the notion of compromise on the issue, there's really not any way around it. The Democrats in the Senate decided to be hypocrites in order to play politics, it is what it is. Republicans do the same things, but it's intellectually dishonest to suggest that the Republicans "controlled congress" when everyone knows that ever since the silent filibuster was implemented it takes 60 votes to do anything in the Senate.

Yet they passed the tax cuts with fewer votes, and as one of the other responses showed, the Republicans refused a deal that had plenty of Democrat support. So why didn't they pass it?
