With Watson on a 50+ td pace they we're 3-4 because the defense and special teams are so bad.

What if he manages "only" 30 TDs (which would still be excellent)

Or what if PFF grades hold up (which they often do on QBs) and he wasn't nearly as good as he looked and ends up being extremely interception prone next year.

    So many what ifs.

Oh well, it's all settled now. Just have to hope for them to hit on mid round picks and make some noise in free agency if you want them to contend next year. Already know they won't be bringing in a new voice to the offensive scheme so that's one option gone.

    While true

O'Brien/Gaine deserve a couple of years without Smith's interference to fix the sh!tshow Smith left behind.

With huge holes on the OL/CB/S/TE/RB there's only so much Gaine can do. Especially without 1st or 2nd round picks.

Well, that's probably what he has, a couple of years, to prove that he really was an amazing head coach and O coordinator all along and that the only thing holding him back was not also being the GM. We'll see how it goes.

While BOB won't have a first or 2nd round pick, he'll have several 3rd round picks and he better hit on all 3 of them given how many holes the team has.

    No. No. No.

BOB has had 4 whole years to get something going.

Either this offense takes lightyear steps forward (programatically, not just Deshaun pulling rabbits out of his a$s) or Billy can pack up his **** and gtfo.

    He doesn't get a mulligan.

This year's draft class was pretty good. Especially at the top. Coming out with Watson, Cunningham, Foreman, Watkins, and even Davenport (I still have hope); is not a bad haul.

I agree. I think Ricky Smits nailed this one. Still not excusable for some of his blunders but this years haul was a good one. It was just detrimental to future drafts and building.

He finally has control over the players that are being brought in. The roster is talent deficient. Let him build up the roster for a couple of yrs and lets see how he does.

Remember, RS left this mess of a roster.

The chance of him doing something O'Brien doesn't want is near zero. He only has the job because of O'Brien

Agreed, Ricky should've fixed the OL with picks he had left. Bills LT Dawkins instead of Cunningham for one and I like Cunningham.

All I heard all preseason last year was how happy the coaches were with the OL and how they didn't need Duane Brown.

Patdstat wrote an article praising the ol, and he usually goes with the coaches

This offensive line isn't going to get fixed in an offseason, especially one where we don't have a pick in the top 2 rounds. Like anything else, it's going to take a couple years to see what his effect on the team will be.

IM really not sure where you guys are coming up with this whole narrative that BOB is now the GM? Or why he would even want to be?

BOB has enough on his plate especially if he is going to continue calling plays to be out there scouting, calling up other GMs and Agents and bringing in players for workouts.

Sure he will have an input but every coach should have input into the players on the roster and he has always had that input with Smith.

Also I think he has done a pretty decent job with what he’s got I mean he has as many division titles as any coach in Franchise history and has only had a QB with an ounce of talent for what 7 games? This year was awful but I don’t care who the coach was as it wasn’t going to be pretty with us losing all of our best players except JD.

one thing we don't know is what went on behind close doors when Gaine was here previously

for all we know, he was pounding the table for players that turned out great, and warning against players that did not, and that made an impression on McNair

That is certainly a reasonable possibility in a vacuum.

But let's be realistic, nobody has any reason to give them the benefit of the doubt as an organization.
