Need a ceiling fan installed in the room that is right now the study but will soon be a bedroom. Currently there is no ceiling light or anything; we just have a lamp in there. If there were already a light then this would be easy to take care of, but since there's currently nothing I'm assuming this will be a bigger and more costly ordeal. I am just looking to hire someone to do this. I will not be doing it. Does anyone have any recommendations for electricians? And does anyone have an idea as to how much it would cost? I don't need it done ASAP but I would like to have it done no later than early November. I called a couple places and they want $50-$60 just to come out and look at it. F that. Thanks! PS - I live in Houston out towards Cypress. So someone who would be willing to go out there is needed.
Is there an attic above? If so, it will be really easy to run the wire. If not, they may have to make several holes in the ceiling to run wire which will end up costing you a little more for sheetrock repair. IMO, fans are fairly easy and you will save $$ doing it yourself. Youtube that **** bro.
Go check out Amazon Home Services: http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Home-S...=local-services&ie=UTF8&qid=1440433863&sr=1-2. Looks like you can have a guy do it for $125.
Find out all the info you can: age of the house, size of the breaker/what's running off of that breaker, and call around. It's a pretty simple job that any electrician can do, no way this should cost more than $200.
Yeah I saw that just before you posted this. Vanin Electric. They had good Google reviews for whatever that's worth. I called them and left a voicemail. They also have a Groupon to do it for just $85 - but that's if the mounting bracket and wiring is already in place. For me, that would be additional. You know now that mention it, I'm reminded that nothing in my breaker box is labeled. I need to talk to the electricians about that and see if they can figure it out. Cool deal. I will call him as well. How many times have you used him?
A few times and my wife (Angela- with Keller Williams) and referred him out to quite a few clients over the years. Not saying he is the cheapest but he does a good job at a fair price.
That shouldn't be too hard. Also, don't take my $200 figure as gospel, I'm not in Houston and have no idea what's standard around there. But it's not a huge job, It'll probably take him longer to map the breakers than to wire the fan.
If you do end up using an online marketplace, I'd be very interested in hearing about the experience.
Arise Enterprises 281-804-3350 Father (Jim Merkey) and son business I got from Angie's list. Really highly rated and they do a great job. Had them put in a new ceiling light and later had them come out to troubleshoot some electrical problems. Highly recommend.
