Big game for the 7, 8 and 9 hitters. We beat a very very good pitcher, but Mc was just awesome, especially when pitching with men on base. No walks was the key.
Tomorrow, Singleton and Conger playing again, PLEASEEEEEEE

Valbuena had a very good game with the bat and glove.

lol he's not a true shut down closer though. he hasn't blown many games this year, so i don't know what it is, but i really just don't trust gregerson. still want kimbrel if he can be had. i know his contract sucks though.

He's an elite relief pitcher... has been for a few years... who didn't **** the bed when he became a closer this year (like some elite relief pitchers have done in the past... Dotel comes to mind).

And while he doesn't have a 95+mph fastball, his slider is a very much a swing-and-miss pitch (or if you make contact, its going on the ground).

Great win. I like what Conger & Marisnick are doing at the bottom of the order. If Singleton can turn it on, this team can be really dangerous.

For now, I'd bat Conger behind Rasmus, but ahead of Valbuena (presuming you have him in against a right-handed pitcher).

He's in a good zone with the bat... good enough that they should probably get an emergency backup catcher so they can DH him on days Castro has to play (with Gattis being hidden in LF).

We may have gotten our bat. Jed could be a huge boost for the team! And with springer in tow, I kind of get management may be looking for more arms. Welcome back lowrie!!!

That's a vote of confidence for Jon Singleton.

    Great f****n win tonight.

McCullers held off LA until the bats came around.

Game ball goes to him and Singleton. Man it would be so nice if Jon came around. Maybe this game will increase his confidence and help him relax. Great ABs and defense for him tonight.

Stros gain sole possession of first place... hasn't happened since July 11th.
We have the talent to maintain it the remainder of the season.

With Kazmir going tomorrow, the sweep looks likely.
Oh and Lowrie is returning... nice.

    F*** Yeah!!!

i'm only saying this because someone like kimbrel IS available and we've been linked with the padres as a trade partner. i'm just salivating at the possibility of having such a dominating bullpen.

gregerson has been good, but that elite title, IMO, is reserved more for guys like kimbrel, melancon, britton, miller, etc...

follow the royals blueprint, except we have much better starters. get the lead after 6 innings and the game's pretty much over.

and the good news keeps coming.

Agreed. If we got Kimbrel... it's GG in the 9th most of the time (97% at least).

The guy is elite. I would feel safe.

I hope we can make a huge deal with Padres for right price. We are too stacked in minors to keep guys we can't play due to guys already in place IE Kemp..

Wouldn't mind snagging Kimbrel, SP (Ross, Cash), and Upton.

Was watching the game on a date at the bar; we looked terrible the first couple of innings. So glad we won over the team the experts predicted would run away with the division
