Can't deny it's been some adventures with Gregerson at times this year. Like I've said before he's not the classic closer with dominant stuff. I give him credit for today, still don't feel he is the answer long term for that job.
McHugh was EXCELLENT. Almost perfect. The curveball was impressive, and after the first 2 plus innings walking guys, no more walks in the next 5 innings. For the first time i saw emotions from him in the 8th after the last out in the inning. Congratulations, great great game for McHugh. Also, very good closing game, plus, Correa, he continues to be the best player on the team.
Define "dominant" stuff... because he's been getting batters out at an elite rate for several years now. Nobody should expect him to be the best of the best, but he's not just some average pitcher out there.
Number 2? Well, i have the other Mc in that spot, McCullers. Now, it would be great if he becomes number 3 over VV, unless the last game by VV is for real and can become the number 3 on our roster. Lets say McHugh is good enough for the number 3, and then VV for the 4th spot, if that happens then we only have one weak spot, number 5. When Feldman comes, will he pitch good? or we need Straily, or get a pitcher through trades, OBIE?, Appel???? Felizzz??? Well, that number 5 is interesting, i guess is going to be Straily until Felman is back
Well, K pitched better, lol, so lets give him a 2, but lets not forget, VV was also SENSATIONAL on his turn, maybe as good as McHugh, but Harris allowed a 3 run homer in the 7th.
HIgh velocity, doesn't have much contact from hitters, lower ERA, etc. I'm not saying Gregerson is garbage, just doesn't strike me as a classic closer. To each his own.
