Good question. Left me baffled as well. I want to say mothers day - travel times. Perhaps arenas are busy in respective events.

Because they're having a Castle Marathon on TNT and showing a 30 for 30 film on ESPN

I'm pretty sure at least part of the reasoning is so ABC could have Lebron playing on their Sunday afternoon time slot.

Why not give all teams 2 days off rather than giving half of them 3 days off and the other half only 1?

The part that doesnt make sense is the Rockets/Clips/Cavs/Bulls play two games before the other 4 play again.... Group A played Tuesday, B played Wed, A SHOULD be playing today, then B again on Fri... With the way the games are rotating nobody is switching the day a game will be played. Had they still gone A-B-A-B with an off day in the middle it would make much more sense.

it gives chris paul less time to heal. so either he sits out or he plays a day or two sooner.

No rest for the Clips after a grueling series with Spurs. Should be advantageous to us.

I agree that it is to our advantage...but they didn't know that when they made the schedule. Doesn't make sense that 1/2 the teams get extra rest during the first 4 games of the series.
