Ethan Strauss just tweeted something pretty accurate. No chance the East owners get rid of conferences. They can be completely mediocre all season and still make the Finals.

Someone at ESPN said this a couple of weeks ago. No doubt the playoffs will remain split between the conferences.

They had a great fanbase when they had Dominique Wilkins, they want stars.

Their second half was a big anomaly fg%-wise and doesn't represent or change their usual shooting they kept up for most of the season.

Or are you also replying "1 of 8" when a guy like Allen or Korver had a bad shooting night and someone says "he's a great shooter".

    In the mediocre east maybe.

Toronto finished the regular season 12-16, and Atlanta finished 7-7, before struggling to beat a bad Brooklyn team. They just aren't great teams.

As expected, Hawks were a regular season team.

Nets are borderline pathetic, and Wizards are a mediocre team.

possibly, but when has this ever actually happened? only elite championship contenders have made the East finals every year

Wall is the best player on the court. If D Will and Lopez were carving up the Hawks, Wall is about to go Harry Potter on these fools. #Gryffindor

One thing hurting Atlanta is that they don't have a "Superstar" or a go to guy especially during close games.

I still can't believe Wall can't consistently shoot jumpshots. Its so annoying because that's one of his only flaws. Dude could be a top 3 PG.

That's the hope/delusion that the team is trying to sell to fans. The team can be a contender without a superstar.

They can still manage to win the East, but they won't beat top 6 WC series.

So they're not really a contender then.

I follow and root for both teams. This series is far from over.

I don't think this was true in the early 2000's

The Sixers, the Nets twice. Those weren't all time great teams.

This is the series that will go deep and have many close games and yet nobody will care.
