Pretty great day for us. Got some separation from Dallas/LAC/MEM. Portland loss would have been nice but no complaints. It's amazing where the Rockets are with such inconsistency throughout the roster. Harden's the lone constant.
when in doubt, root for the home team when you are trying to keep your lead in the standings, root for the away team when you are trying to catch someone.
I still don't think we can catch the Grizzlies based on their easier remaining schedule, but at least we still have a shot.
But an OKC vs GS first round would be ideal. Don't want the Rockets to face OKC in the first round, which can happen if the Rockets move up above Memphis.
If you want the top two seeds upset in the first round, the ideal pairings are: OKC vs. Memphis San Antonio vs. GS Rockets won't catch Memphis. Let go of that. At #3, good chance they face the Mavs, which is exactly what I want.
The Pelicans are just pissing me off winning these games with their main guys out. Quincy Pondexter 25 points on 9-13 shooting? Get out of here with that.
Hmm...I actually disagree, respectfully. I think OKC has a better chance of knocking off GS, and SA has a better chance against MEM. The Spurs just don't seem like they can gun with a team like the Warriors anymore, and OKC has proven they can beat Memphis twice now, and they've really upgraded their roster. Having said that...I don't see GS and MEM getting upset. And I also definitely agree that the Rockets best case scenario is the 3 seed, which isn't bad. A matchup with Dallas would be awesome. A matchup with LAC could be disastrous, though.
San Antonio, I mean. They've matched up with Memphis really well in the past, and the pace would be more in line with what San Antonio is doing nowadays.
I saw the Spurs beat GS early in the season and can see them mustering up the energy to take them down. IMO, the Spurs don't have a chance against the Grizzlies this time around. They would get worn down and the Grizzlies know them very well. I also think OKC matches Memphis better than they do GS. Unlike most Rockets fans, I'm not scared of the Clippers because of the "bad matchup" notion. If Dwight is healthy and mobile, Rockets would beat them decisively, just as they would the Mavs. If Dwight doesn't play or contribute much, Rockets would lose to either team.
That's fair. I think realistically SA doesn't look good against either MEM or GS. They'd definitely win a couple games but over a 7 game series I'd be surprised if they pulled it out. They look noticeably weaker this go around. As for the Clippers, I will say our new bench makes me more confident against them. They'd obliterate the Clippers bench. It would just be a matter of containing Crawford/Redick and their bigs.
