Ummm...There was DEFINITELY 3 second violation in the paint, as well as Zone defense during Shaq's time

Shaq had dominant years after the 3 second rule came along. I think it was the 2001 season. Shaq won another MVP after that.

For all the talk about Shaq not being skilled, it's just not true. He had good footwork in the paint and a good touch around the rim. That combined with his devastating strength made him unstoppable until he got old. A prime Shaq would kill the modern NBA.

No matter what number...Barkley agreed to taking 1 million to get Scottie. No one forced him to do anything.

Its just funny cuz he hates how current NBAers team up with friends to win rings

Then that is some under the table s*** there....which would be completely stupid on Leslie's part...so I doubt its true.

too add, Its not Les's fault that Barkley squandered all of it in casinos

Barkley himself even claimed to have squandered 2.5 million play black jack in a matter of hours

I don't really like defending Shaq here but come on, he was amazing.

    Rookie year clips:

To the person who called Tad a douche, I have a story for you.

I was diagnosed with cancer a little over a year ago and am good friends with a family who knows Tad personally. They called him and the week after I was at a game against Minnesota. Tad personally gave me a tour of Toyota Center, the locker room, training room, etc. right before the game. Got to interact with all of the players and gave me a bunch of other stuff.

Probably one of the nicest people I have ever met and he has continued to keep in touch.

It wasn't stupid. Barkley did the team a favor and allowed us to grab the best free agent available, then Les never made good on his word. I'm a big fan of Les but that move was weak.

It's a lot of money to those guys. NBA salaries skyrocketed right as players from that era began to retire. Look at those numbers. He lead (or maybe was #2) in rebounding one of those years as a Rocket too.

    Season Team Lg Salary
    1985-86 Philadelphia 76ers NBA $437,500
    1987-88 Philadelphia 76ers NBA $822,500
    1988-89 Philadelphia 76ers NBA $1,536,000
    1990-91 Philadelphia 76ers NBA $2,900,000
    1991-92 Philadelphia 76ers NBA $3,200,000
    1992-93 Phoenix Suns NBA $2,420,000
    1993-94 Phoenix Suns NBA $3,250,000
    1994-95 Phoenix Suns NBA $4,030,000
    1995-96 Phoenix Suns NBA $4,760,000
    1996-97 Houston Rockets NBA $4,695,000
    1997-98 Houston Rockets NBA $2,250,000
    1998-99 Houston Rockets NBA $1,000,000

Why did you cut off the last year he played where his salary jumped up to $9 million?

It was his highest ever payday when he was about to retire. That wasn't Les doing him a solid?

Shaq is a big clown. A big kid in high school. One thing about Barkley is he is real. The Barkley you see on TNT is the same Barkley in person. The guy speaks his mind and he straight forward. Also another cool fact about Barkley is he doesn't act like a Diva when he meets fans. He isn't the "I'm above you" because I'm a popular athlete" mentality. Just my 2 cents.

Ultimately, it doesn't make one bit of difference. I bet if you asked Harden or Howard their opinion on the whole thing, they'd say,"Who gives a ****?"

That's a terrific story. Thank you for posting it. I just can't understand internet idiots name calling someone who they likely have never met.

Tad knows why Barkley is upset he took a lot less money to allow us to sign Pippen, and he is pissed at Les the owner - maybe there was some deal to make it up to him....but everyone knows this already...

Except when it comes to backing up his trash talk. In the Phoenix vs. Rockets playoff series Barkley talked trash when the Suns were winning. When they lost, he refused to address it and tried to change the subject with a lame story about him being likely to retire (which of course he didn't do).

Meh. That poster relishes in being anti everything with the rockets.

Gives off the vibe that he would rather the Rockets lose and he be "right" about Morey and what not then see the Rockets succeed and be proven wrong.

That may be true. I may be remembering the older Shaq. I do recall him being quick but I remember him using his ass to back into the paint a lot just as Chuck did.

Regardless, the point remains that it doesn't even make sense to compare Dwight to those guys because that isn't the kind of player he is. And further, that if either of those guys put an emphasis on defense they might appreciate Dwight's game more.

Why should Barkley take us seriously as contenders? We've had practically zero playoff success since the mid 90s, and the current team plays a style he's gone on record many, many times saying will not work in the playoffs.

He may have a grudge against us, but him not liking the way we play or our chances to win it all doesn't necessarily have to do with that.

i'm more upset we got 7 pages to this thread/subject when you should all damn well know whatever they say on inside the nba is nothing more then them clowning around.

i dont think a lot of nba fans DO take them serious, they watch it for the laughs
