I watched it and you got his point wrong. His point was if you are in the position where you are asking folks to hire you then you have to conform to the speech and dress that they deem acceptable. If you are in the 1% like a Jay Z or a LeBron then you probably don't. But if you are a "regular person" trying to better yourself then you need to realize folks won't hire you with your pants hanging off your butt and not speaking "proper English". It's why he referenced how he has to dress at ESPN compared to how you see him dressed on his own time.

His rant was spot on. The folks that can just do what they want are either special (like a LeBron) or are in a position where they don't have to rely on someone else to get paid. But most of us aren't, and that's what we need to realize. He is saying recognize the fears that people have...the minefields out there for us...and do what you can to not run into them. It's not fair but it's reality. Dyson told him the dominant culture needs to accept more responsibility to change as well, ie we don't need to be the only ones changed. He didn't disagree with that. But while you wait for that to happen or fight to ensure it happens, do the best that you can to make it under the current conditions. That would include looking and talking a certain way in certain places. Not just for your career but for your safety. Is it fair that I, as a black man, can't stop in Vidor at night without putting my life in danger? Of course it isn't. But would I be a dumbass to do so, knowing that it will put my life in danger? Of course I will be. It's not fair that certain speech patterns won't work at my place of employment, but I am aware and understand that they won't, so if I want to work there....

The primary isssue is . . .being 'white' is considered special
A white person . . .wearing the same thing . .. with the same credentials . .. a mirror image of a minory . . .. gets to wear his hoodies, sag his pants. hail cabs, etc etc

As long as black people accept this second class level of citizentry . . .then it will continue

Look at the whole Mark Cuban statement and the context he has said it instead of nit picking and over analysing a handful of the words he has said. If people are going to be over politically correct in judging everyone's words that come out of their mouth, then we are just going to muddle up the serious discussion of the "real" racism that goes on.

I did look at the whole context of what he said. It's not too complex. Cuban's not a racist. However, if a black kid simply wearing a hoodie makes him uncomfortable the same way an adult white male with a shaved head & tattoos does, then that speaks to a bigger issue. A large portion of white america doesn't understand how uncomfortable it is for a minorities watching ourselves getting murdered by cops on a regular because of stupid stereotypes. It may not be a big issue to you, but I don't know if you been racially profiled before.

I am on topic addressing other people other than you, you used Dyson as a source but he's someone who's said messed up things before, so I don't consider that a good source. On the contrary, I think Thomas Sowell is someone who has very fair views, not that I agree with everything he says, but he's a well renowned scholar and has walked the earth for much longer than most people. I'm trying to expose the manipulation and the division agenda of the MSM.

This is how I feel right now pretty much. wanting a level playing field for everyone = racist.

Yes I aware that Smith used Cuban's comments as a springboard for a tangent that ultimately had little to do with the initial topic.

Dyson addressed the comments and then provided a historical context for those comments.
