It's progress but it's still bull**** how they try to spin the existence of the signs. They pit the fan base against charity when they were the ones that promised those companies would get signs on the left field wall. They could have promised 1000 things. It's not like that was the only possibility.

That is a million times better than that bullsh!+ that was there before. I actually dig it, it doesn't block the skyline anymore.

Can anyone tell where they've placed the DK memorial circle, if anywhere?

All the Astros players have to do is hit a bunch of HR's off the walls/signs... and maybe they'll break them and require them to be removed!

Actually, the opposing team probably has a better shot of doing that... I'll root for the demise of the signs any way possible!

It does look better, however... poor train still gets mitigated by the banner sign, along with the citgo sign.

The only reason it was where it was is because of the 1997 pennant being there.

If they're not putting it on the light tower next to the pennant, I'm not sure if there's any other place that's "appropriate". Kinda sucks... but all in the name of "charity!"

EDIT: N/m... I see it still there on the wall, next to the HR pump (below the "champion energy" billboard/charitable donation sign)

Is that it under the 'Champion' sign to the far right of that picture?

I don't understand what the issue is with these signs (at their new location)? They are fairly clean signs with standardized backgrounds that now blend well into the facade. They seem better than all the other advertising throughout the stadium, like the ground-level red HEB sign and all the stuff around the scoreboard. These blend in better than all of those.

I understand adverting sucks in general, but these seem like the "least bad" ads in the stadium.

Some folks are going to complain about almost anything Crane does.

Its the placement of ads in a place that didn't have ads to begin with (and actually was reserved for team "honors" that are now stashed on the light tower).

Had the same problem with the chick-fil-a fowl poles.

Yes, was worse when it was obstructing the view downtown, but this is still a cluttering of additional ads in an otherwise "ad-free" zone.

I'm fine with it "replacing" other ads in the ballpark... and i'm indifferent as to what the signs look like themselves.

    1. They detract from one of the most beautiful, and most visible parts of the stadium: the arches in left field

    2. The fact that it's more ads in the stadium. A lot more ads in the stadium.

those are the issues. pretty clear.

Crane needs all the money he can get. He's already upside down after this last valuation.

It really is a great ballpark and has aged extremely well. I have watched games at 90% of the ballparks and it is in the top 10%.

They did a great job. Hard to realize its the oldest of all the "new" stadiums in Houston... it still looks like it sets the standard.

Meanwhile, Reliant/err...NRG has started to show some age... and doesn't appeal to the eye from outside. Its still looks good on over-head shots... but only if the roof is open. NFL stadiums are more utilitarian anyways. Toyota Center is fine... nothing spectacular, but doesn't feel like one of the best NBA arenas around.

Some of y'all must've never seen pictures from old ballparks. There are and will always be ads "everywhere".

NRG is boring as hell. I like the Toyota Center, just wish there was more stuff around it.

Yep. Back in the day some were almost completely covered with ads.
