He's definitely worth it when comparing to the other players on the list. He's only been in the league for 1.5 seasons and already went to a SB (Lost game on the 5 yard line) and NFCCG (Lost game on 1st and Goal). Both games were easily winnable. If it wasn't for that stupid call in the Saints (Brees clothesline tackle) the Seahawks would've been playing at 9ers stadium in the NFCCG. My prediction is SB win next year. The 9ers will have a new stadium, Crabtree will be healthy, 10+ draft picks plus Marcus Lattimore, Tank Carradine (2nd round pick who was injured all year), an up and coming WR Quinton Patton and TE Vance McDonald. The only free agent worth noting is Donte Whitner whom they can replace with an early round pick (HaHa Clinton-Dix) or they can trade up and get an elite WR (Mike Evans, Marquis Lee). Let's pull up this thread next year to see where he stands. If he wins the SB he will easily be worth 20 million.

I agree Romo hasn't proven to come up consistently in big moments, but Flacco and Eli both benefited from great defenses. The Cowboys should've been a 3-4 win team with that historically bad defense if it weren't for Romo this year. He actually has the most talent out of everyone on that list. He just hasn't delivered in big moments and that gets magnified, be it fair or not. But he wouldn't have to be in those situations if the team coaching and defense were competent because he plays consistently well every Sunday
Eli had a huge dropoff (this past year), while bringing NY 2 SB championships. He deserves all that money. Flacco got lucky - his payday was huge because he was so clutch in the playoffs. Did terrible this year though.
I could have sworn the D on the Giants was pretty bad during their second super bowl run with Eli so I looked it up. The Giants scoring defense was the lowest of Super Bowl winners, ranking 25th after allowing an average of 25 points per game. I wouldn't say that's a great defense.
If the Niners don't watch it ... they could find themselves in another 10 years of futility without a good head coach and quarterback. The Yorks were running the team in the ground, before Harbaugh and Baalke showed up ... I wouldn't have any faith in them rebuilding a team on the fly.

With Colin Kaepernick, the magic number is $20M a season, not $18M. Yikes, the Niners might as well start looking for another QB now because Kap isn't worth anywhere near 20 mil a year.
I totally agree with this strategy. Their window won't be open much longer anyway. Draft a project QB, go all in for this season, and see what happens. He did not, overall, make a lot of progress as a passer this season. Add to that his very cold public & media persona, because it wouldn't be $20mil/yr for a face-o-the-franchise type of guy.
18 million dollar quarterbacks need to get it into the end zone in those situations and win those "easily" winnable games - don't they?
i disagree with that. best lb core in the nfl. the secondary needs help, but reid should get better. aldon smith is one of the best in the league. justin smith is getting older, but he's still effective.
Even with all of his shortcomings, in this year's draft and next year's draft, who do you guys see as a sure-thing and one that the most-likely playoff bound Niners can actually draft. Everyone says draft a QB, but who can actually come in and perform well as a starter.
Niners will likely draft Garappolo as Kaepernick's backup. Colt McCoy isn't returning and the 3rd stringer is McLeod Bethel-Thompson ie "mc blt"
he'll get paid but he isnt worth 18 mill. He's looks good because he's on a VERY good 9'ers team. If the 9'ers pay him they dun goofed
