Do you believe Jeremy and Omer "are going to be here"?

james harden was #6 in the NBA in MPG last year and we needed every bit of it to scrape into the 8th seed of the playoffs for a 1st round bounce. This is not ideal and playing harden into the ground is not Plan A for this team. we added Howard and, in Lin, have a playmaking guard who excels in the pick and roll (as does Howard) and can spell harden - not positionally, as the SG, but in role- as the ball dominant playmaker.

then add that 1) Lin will be healthy at the start of the year 2) his shooting has shown improvement and 3) he shows very little ego, outwardly at least, and I think you'll see that Lin can contribute greatly to this team. Then throw his contract into the equation and "reportedly" low interest by other teams and you'll see Morey does not, and will not sell low. Even in the Ariza signing, which was a mistake, Morey got Courtney Lee.

There are plenty of ways to start Lin and still get him some alone time with the basketball while harden is resting. Its up to McHale to figure out the rotations. he's got a similar issue with Asik and Howard. this is where we see if we've got the coach to take us to the next level.

The problem we have is too much talent. It's a good problem to have and a problem that a championship caliber coach can solve.

 

Still both actively being shopped. I mean, why the hell not? At least Asik. Might as well keep open the lines of communication. And if it gets out in the media, just deny it.

 

I think teams are calling see about Asik but don't think Lin is being shopped. As I understand they talk about Lin but the market was just to soft.

 

I think lin will go before asik, from a basketball point of view its better to get rid of lin before asik. Asik was consistent, and proved himself this season he's not a bench player as he was treated as so before. So even after this season players teams will want him because of what he can bring to the team defensively, even if his offense is mediocre.

Lin on the other hand we dont know which way he will go, he could go up and do great, or he could go down and do terrible under all the pressure (which he seems not to handle pressure to well) then we could potentially end up with a player stuck on our roster that we're paying all this money for and that nobody else will take. Hindering us from trading him and picking up someone more useful for the team.

I guess it just depends on how you look at it. IF we do keep both i hope they both perform well for the teams sake, it's just a lot bigger risk keeping Lin. Morey said before Asik is a important role in us winning the playoffs. I'm sure if it came down to it, if one of them had to be traded, most of CF (other than the obvious lin only's) would rather see Lin go and deal with the rest of our PGs, and still have asik as our backup, rather than to ship Asik off and have no back-up big man, but have 4 PGs on the roster

 

Of cause no one is untouchable, i.e. if Mia is crazy enough to trade LBJ for Harden one on one. That being said, there is a huge difference between 'actively shop' and listen to calls when calls come in.

People seems to conclude that Morey listening means trying to trade away Asik and Lin.

 

what about trading Lin for Brandon Jennings?

Milwaukee has a good young group of bigs and Lin can lead them to possibly the playoffs. Linsanity 2.0

I personally believed that Lin and Asik are being shopped. Asik is gone in the summer of 2015 when his deal is up so he has to be moved at some point. Lin's contract is not a good value deal, so Morey will look to correct that.

Morey is not going to give away either player. He will look to package them or move them separately for value. With Asik having the most value, he clearly will be the lynchpin piece to adding a 3rd star player on the roster.

 

I really, really do not want Jennings on this team.

 

If it is happening this off season then it's happened. Actively calling every team in NBA and the negotiation can be done in a matter of days. It's been weeks if not months since you all heard this rumor.

So it is more like passively rather than actively being shopped. Only if a superstar come available. Unlikely though

 

Actively shopping a player to a GM is probably like calling your ex while drunk trying to get a booty call while telling her how much you hate her. It's humiliating and yet a necessity to get through the night.

Passively shopping a player is slyly sliding the topic into any conversation you're having.

I don't think they're being "actively" shopped. I think Morey is fine with keeping Lin and Asik, though of course like any gm would, is open to any good trade scenarios. I doubt that he's panicking over keeping Omer or Jeremy. So, I agree that they're up for grabs but only at the right price but I disagree that Morey is actively calling other GMs with a trade offer. Doesn't seem his style. A true poker player.

I think the Rockets are in a win/win situation right now. If Asik and Lin stay, Houston will have an absolutely magnificent second unit as well. If those players are used in something like LMA trade, the first unit will become one of the strongest if not the strongest in the NBA.

I still believe that the second unit will play mainly with Carcia at the 2 and Casspi at the 3. In some situations Casspi can play the 4 and Williams and Garcia will play the 2 and 3. That is a trio of heavy 3-point shooting, which will cause some serious damage. I predict that Casspi will shoot over 40% from 3-point range in the Rockets because the style simply fits him.

In my opinion the Rockets will be even more efficient scoring team now while the defense has become much stronger at the same time. Looking really good (sorry, if I sound overly optimistic, but I really see it that way).

 

if a trade can be done for both Lin and Asik, it will be done. If no offers by other teams, then they will stay at least for next season. If they do stay for next season and the Rockets play so well (all teammates together, no finger pointing) or even win the championship (never say never), life will be easier for both of them. If they or the rockets screw up or whatever, finger pointing will happen to them regardless of whether it is really because of them or not. someone will have to take the blame. obviously it won't be the superstars.

It looks like it is the way the rockets are heading now. Of course it is still way early to tell whether both of them will be traded or not until the final minutes before the next season in November. For the time being, it is still wide open for discussions. positive or negative, like it or not.

I think that Lin and Asik is being actively shopped just because it's Daryl Morey. And I'm a fan of Lin.

But it's Morey, so I'm sure that whatever he gets will be of, at LEAST, equal or higher value, and just looking at the league I'm not sure what would make sense (for both teams) unless there's a high pick involved.

For Asik specifically tho, I don't think they'll move him until they have a good defensive backup secured.

For Lin, I pretty much expect him to at least finish up the Philippines and Taiwan preseason games if anything were to happen.

 

oh, and also it's Daryl Morey, pretty much everybody who is not named Harden or Howard or Parsons is being shopped, constantly. And Parsons is only staying because of his ridiculously cheap contract.
