That was the third unit he left out there. There is no need to test the 3rd unit, it's highly unlikely they will be in that position. Once the lead got to single digits I would have brought in Asik and Lin to close it out in the last 5 min.

 

Someone asked a question, I stated the fact. Please enlighten me at which point was I blaming McHale? Are you telling me that DMO played well in that last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter? If you disagree, I'm all ears.

Hey, criticize reality as much as you want to. But it's probably more appropriate to go to a different board if you want to criticize the Rockets' coach after a win without two starters. Are you surprised that people on CF don't want to hear your belief that McHale sucks because of a dice-rolling analogy?

There's more to coaching an NBA game than predicting rolls of a die. Your 1/6 mentality is the cause of so many of your comments.

 

We grasped your argument a long time ago: "If the Rockets had lost, they wouldn't have won." It adds a lot to the discussion.

Amare was a pure dunker his rookie year with the ability to slash to the basket. Thomas has that pure physicality, and I believe tonight he hit a step back jumper. I see some big time talent in the guy, and being so young and not a defensive liability shows that he has good bball IQ. One thing I do not like though, is that he is a black hole. Nothing(the ball) comes out.

 

Lin needs to hit his WIDE OPEN 15 footers. He couldve easily had like 28 if he did

Reading your last few posts in this thread I started to wonder if you are still in primary school or something...

McHale decided that the entire fourth quarter was garbage time, and let Asik and Lin sit the rest of the game. Obviously Vaughn didn’t agree, and let his starting unit close out the game.

The Magic fought back while the Rockets struggled, and the lead quickly dwindled. While they pulled the game out, it was far closer than it needed to be.

The upside of this is that McHale seems to now be looking forward to the playoffs, getting rest for his starters wherever possible. As long as this doesn’t entirely blow a lead and cause a costly loss, the logic makes sense. Houston will very likely be in the playoffs for the first time in years, and clearly McHale and his squad would love to win some games.
