I've never been a fan, and I'm a native Texan. I'd much rather have something from Dairy Queen, if I can't find something better (I usually can). One of my compaints? Lousy malts. They don't use powdered malt like civilized people, but rather that foul "malt" that squirts out of a bottle. Want to go to a great cheap burger joint? Come up to Austin and try Dan's, particularly the one at Manchaca and Ben White. They make their fries from actual potatoes they cut up themselves, have excellent burgers with Angus beef, chicken fried steak sandwiches that are made from real steak, not the formed and flaked frozen crap you usually see, and they use the kind of malt that a malt is supposed to have. Surely Houston has a good local chain these days.

Do you also order with three unnecessary and space-attention-grabbing lines of dots every time? :p

Whataburger is the GOAT of fast food hamburgers.

In N Out will forever be grossly overrated in my mind.

Plain and dry with 2 orders of hash browns on the burger is my go to hangover sandwich.

    Jalepeno and Cheese Whataburger.

Sometimes I'll get something from their All-Time Favorites menu, usually either the Chophouse Cheddar or the Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich on Texas Toast.

Because of my diet I don't eat there as much as I'd like, but when I do go, this is usually what I get. The slice of bread they throw in is always perfectly toasted and buttered.

As a fairly healthy option (for fast food), the chicken fajita taco - with no fries and a diet drink or unsweet iced tea - is pretty great.

I enjoy Whataburger, but their taquito is the most overrated fast food item ever.

Maybe because I am lactose intolerant but I find Dairy Queen food pretty blah... I guess their deserts are OK but their burgers IMO don't match up to even BK.

For me it's probably a good thing that Whataburger isn't in the upper Midwest.

On the advice of this thread, I went to whataburger just before 11am and got a chophouse with grillled onions and a fried egg. In the words of Gordon Ramsey "*****in delicious!"

Of course it was so much food I felt sick afterwards, but totally worth it.

I think that's true. There was a time when their Taquito used to be different. They used to have real potatoes in them. That changed and now they use their hash browns inside the taquito. There's nothing special about them now.

But it wasn't always the case.
