The 2013 MLS regular season schedule is released. The Dynamo will also play in the 2013-14 edition of the CONCACAF Champions League starting this August. They are currently in the Quarterfinals against Santos Laguna, which will be played in March. I'm sure KPRC Ch. 2 will grab some of the games just like last year.
Mac Kandji and Andre Hainult, who is trialing in Scotland right now, are likely to leave this offseason apparently. But Cam Weaver has been resigned.
Kandji can go. I'd like to keep Hainult, though. He's a solid fullback and finishes relatively well on set pieces.
The Dynamo signed a new radio deal with 1560 AM (Yahoo Sports Radio) and 97.5 FM (ESPN Radio) to broadcast their games. http://blog.chron.com/sportsmedia/2013/01/dynamo-ink-new-multi-year-radio-deal/ The move to a new radio station is a good thing for them because their previous radio station, 790 AM, will have Astros games and Rockets games. So it would be very difficult for the Dynamo to stay with 790.
[rquoter]13. Houston Dynamo take Jason Johnson Interesting to see who Kinnear takes as he rejigs the MLS Cup finalists. They've already picked up Omar Cummings to help retool their attack, and now they get the raw promise of Jason Johnson. He had a mixed Combine, but the raw tools are definitely there. Mac Kandji might be watching this development with interest. Johnson is a full Jamaican international by the way... Joe's take: Jason Johnson (GA) College: Virginia Commonwealth Position: Striker/Left-Winger MLS Player Comparison: Omar Cummings Struggling through the rigors of the combine, Johnson’s fell a little after the first two days. Also his end of season form wasn’t too impressive. But that aside, whoever picks up the bullish forward will have a quality player. He can operate out wide but is probably best through the middle and still likely to go in the first round. If Johnson regains full fitness, Chicago or RSL could get a steal with their pick. [/rquoter] Another Jamaican for the roster.
He's got some nice highlights. Until Carr is healthy he could be our first speed forward off the bench, so he could get some playing time but not have a ton of pressure right away. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/GHEuDxmFFjc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
[rquoter]37. Houston take Jimmy Nealis So one of those remaining left backs finds a home at Houston where he'll get a chance to back up Corey Ashe. Surprising that he fell this far perhaps. Joe's take: Jimmy Nealis College: Georgetown Position: Left-Back MLS Player Comparison: Tyson Wahl Solid, dependable and comfortable in possession, Nealis has improved year on year with the Hoyas. His college-career culminated in an unsuccessful run to the College Cup final but he gained valuable experience and impressed down in Alabama. The New York native often starts attacks from the left-back spot and grew in stature with his talented Georgetown teammates. Quick, strong and MLS ready. LA Galaxy to close things out...[/rquoter]
Will Bruin is putting in work for the USMNT right now it seems. 2goals in a closed scrimmage vs Club Tijuana. Impressive considering the competition ahead of him at forward- EJ, Wondo and Agudelo.
Good to hear. Though, I really don't see him as having much of a chance internationally. He's not a guy that can take people on. He's good with his back to the goal and a pretty good finisher w/in the box...but not a creative player at all that can make his own opportunities. He was the perfect replacement for Ching in that they're kind of the same player.
I have the same feeling, unfortunately. Chris Wondolowski is a pretty similar player. He doesn't really create his own shots and he isn't a guy that can beat players with the ball at his feet in the run of play, but he gets in great position and he finishes his chances nearly without fail. But even with all those positives, Wondo has barely gotten a sniff with the national team.

Same thing I thought, but... looks like until Uverse or DirecTV have the channel, we can watch on KPRC local 2.1 . <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>A select number of matches will continue to air on @<a href="https://twitter.com/kprclocal2">kprclocal2</a> as a part of the agreement: <a href="http://t.co/vuoBBZjL" title="http://bit.ly/12ahV9L">bit.ly/12ahV9L</a></p>— HoustonDynamo (@HoustonDynamo) <a href="https://twitter.com/HoustonDynamo/status/296757015047438339">January 30, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Sucks, I am glad some of the matches will be on local 2 but I hate that Comcast SportsNet is forcing me to watch stuff online when previously, I got sports channels to avoid such.
The Dynamo and Greenstar Recycling ended their sponsorship deal because Greenstar was bought out by Waste Management. They are looking for a new sponsor to put on their jerseys. Expect it to be announced by mid-season not at the start of the season.
