The New York Times, in collaboration with Quinnipiac University and CBS News, is tracking the presidential race with recurring polls in six states. In Ohio — which no Republican has won the presidency without — Mr. Obama is leading Mr. Romney 53 percent to 43 percent in the poll. In Florida, the president leads Mr. Romney 53 to 44 percent in the poll. The surveys, which had margins of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points for each candidate, also included a Pennsylvania poll, where Mr. Obama is leading Mr. Romney by 12 percentage points. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/26/u...a-widening-lead-in-ohio-and-florida.html?_r=0 One thing that is especially encouraging about the way the election is going is that Mitt and Paul Ryan are supposedly starting to feud. It could easily get so bad that that Ryan may very well be ruined as a national candidate.
If the "stench" talk is true, Paul Ryan deserves to be ruined as a national candidate. Dems, Obama is peaking right now so enjoy it while you can. This momentum will not last and the polls will start ebbing in Romney's direction. Even so, it's very unlikely Romney has a finishing kick that can propel him into the lead unless there is a significant event that damages Obama. My original prediction of Obama winning by 3-5% still stands. Electorally, the margin will be bigger.
Agreed. Thing is, people don't really like back biters and bad teammates. Even when you are on a losing team Americans tend to feel there is something wrong with throwing teammates and coaches under the bus and not giving full effort. This may be Ryan's "Kevin Martin smiling on the bench in a bad loss" or "Tracy McGrady's Toronto game" moment.
NYTimes? That ain't nuthin but a librul rag! CNN had a similar piece about how Mitt's having difficulty resonating with Ohio voters: http://www.cnn.com/2012/09/26/politics/romney-ohio/index.html?hpt=hp_t2
the only debate now is about the Senate. Romney is toast. 42 days is a long time, unless you are Mitt Romney. Obama is too well known of a commodity. All he has to do is play it safe and it's game over.
The Romney camp lacks the organization and simplicity of George W. Bush's teams. Bush's team was brilliant in that they would lay out a simple message and hammer it home. In 2000, it was the "compassionate conservative" story and in 2004 it was National Security and swift boating of John Kerry. This time Mitt has ceded way too much responsibility to his chief strategist, Stuart Stevens - who threw together the convention speech which lacked a lot of specific details on the tax plan and excluded Afghanistan references. This gave Bill Clinton the chance to systematically dismantle the Romney plan, or lack thereof.
I hate Karl Rove with a passion but the man is an absolute genius when it comes to politics. Hands down the greatest political tactician in recent history. He ran amazing campaigns for President Bush (starting with defeating Ann Richards in 1994) I get why McCain didnt get Rove on his campaign (since Rove swift boated him in South Carolina in 2000 among other things) but Romney should have gotten Rove on board with the campaign.
It seems people are having a hard time defending Romney and supporting him the closer it gets to election. That doesnt mean that they wont vote for him but its funny how politicians are so good at ruining their own campaigns that other people worked so hard on. My friends have been getting quieter and quieter. Too bad so much is put into party loyalty now days. I wish we had a solid candidate who could represent something that would bring the parties and country more together. No matter who gets elected, they dont get the support they need to get anything done because its automatically time to make them look bad and work on the next campaign. Our country is screwed. Both sides are wrong for many reasons. One side is way to greedy, the other isnt greedy enough.
Too much PR liability to associate himself with Rove, and thus Bush, in such a visible way. Romney has plenty of Bush-Cheney admin people with him, but very few voters know who, for example, Dan Senor, is but many remember Rove's fat face.
You're clearly a homer then. Easy money for whoever you made the bet with. Or maybe Romney pulls a Dubya and scams his way into the White House.
