Lots of rumors flying around and this just popped up on their FB page. Their last numbered album was LZ IV
Led Zeppelin has one of the best studio CD discographies of any band in history. What I mean is that there were no US/UK releases like The Beatles, no multiple key songs left off like The Rolling Stones, etc. 9 solid studio releases. One compilation (Coda). And I think only 4-5 songs that were then included in the Complete Recordings as part of an extended Coda. So, basically, 10 albums with original songs. Led Zeppelin doesn't need to release anything else- they did their job and cemented their legacy.
Well, Page and Plant made a couple albums long after Led Zeppelin ceased, right? Those were okay but not great. I wouldn't expect anything new today to be much better.
I'm sure 60 year old's bringing back a 40 year old music style would be fresh. Plant has said he is always looking to explore something new and has never looked back. http://www.robertplant.com/press/gq-robert-plant-interview/
Gotta be for the 5yr!! mark of that show. Although, at the end of Dazed and Confused Page played something that sounded like a new piece of music..!
The album commonly known as IV was not actually titled so it's not officially LednZeppelin IV, people just called it that for lack of something better. Also Plant's voice is not shot. Listen to his Band of Joy album.
Other than track #1 Mighty Rearranger is as good as any CD in the last 20 years. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QljN40DwVGU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Sorta like The Who...wait a minute...haven't they released a couple of albums of late where all they have is Townsend and Daltrey?? But I agree with you, dando - LZ should not record any more future studio albums.
