You make a mistake and get caught, you face the consequences. Pick yourself up after you finish jail time. It'll be tough but he'll get through it.

 

Why would it be D&D material? He confessed to the crimes that were (at least) partially captured on video.

Because kidnapping in this case isn't necessarily kidnapping. Because this was a 1st time offense. Because if this happened a year early he would have ended up with 6 months probation.

I don't have access to the video, so I can hardly say how bad it was. No excuse for hitting a woman (or more accurately dragging her by the hair), but 3 years is a hard punishment for first criminal offense.

 

In this case 1st offense shouldn't really matter.

This is not a small crime, those are several serious ones and 3 years jail seem correct.

 

Just because charges are serious ones, doesn't mean they were actually as bad as the charge sounds. I got charged with assault with a deadly weapon as a kid. Serious stuff. Never in my life have I tried to harm someone with a weapon or even threaten to hurt someone with one.

The kidnapping charge is a joke. The robbery charge is a joke. The assault charge is what this is really about. 1st time offenders don't get 3 years for assault that don't involve weapons. You've now exponentially raised his odds of being a future criminal and drain on society.

 

Pleading guilty to multiple felonies and you are worried about hard punishment? Come on now, three years is not hard punishment for those crimes.

Also, the victim in this incident didn't even want him to go to jail. I find it odd how this means nothing to our judicial system. The acts were committed against her, after all.
