Lin is a star because he scored more points in his first 6 or 7 starts or whatever it was than ANYONE ELSE in the history of the NBA.

Lin is a star not because of his stats but the fact that he carried a mediocre team in the biggest media stage in the country to a seven game winning streak. Also don't discount game winners and his shot against Toronto was the epitome of a game winner.

who cares if he's a star? Championships are built with superstars and even the biggest Lin supporters don't say he has that kind of potential. Can we win a champion with Lin as our third best player? Yes, but only if the other best two are superstars and players 4-6 aren't far behind Lin.

The search for a legit superstar continues...

Can't believe people are still trying hard to discount Lin's ability as a player, first and foremost he's the player put up historical numbers and turned the whole season around, then the others things come into play to make him a household name. Last time I checked Yi is rotten on the mavs bench and nobody except for die hard chinese fans seem to give a damn about him.

    Lin is a star, period.

Pistons model in early 2000's begs to differ.

You dont HAVE to have a superstar if u have a very solid starting 5.

This team will have that type of lineup in about 3 or 4 years if we stay the course and say eff Howard.

A better question, and more specific, is can Lin be the second best player on a championship team.

You have no rep, twenty four posts, and have been here for less than a year.
    Back to your corner rook.

It's funny because so many outside of Houston consider the signing a success in Houston's "star search." I think others outside of Houston are more excited than Houston is for itself.

He definitely has the potential to retain his status as a well-known name around the league, but I think the Dwight chase has really dampened the excitement on this Lin signing for us Houston fans.

Simplistic poll does not reflect the 50 shades of grey.

    I'm glad to have him.

He's not quite a star at this point. He's in that 2nd tier of PGs, which in any other era cpuld make him a star.

So many great PGs in the league right now.

I think he's a closer, which is a role the Rockets have needed for a while. He can draw fouls like crazy. Hope he becomes a better finisher.

The media see him as a star. Lin has yet to prove that he's a star on the court, not with such a short period of success, but he has the potential to be a star there, as well. We will get to watch that play out. That's pretty cool, IMO, and I hope we also get to watch the rest of our young talent grow and mature as players. I'm excited about the young core of this team, like a lot of people here. I hope that Morey is able to keep Lamb, Jones, and White, Parsons, and snag Howard with our remaining "assets." I'm assuming Donatas is off the table completely. That's a dream scenario. Howard signs, we keep Parsons, sign Lee because he's a good 2 and is a good friend of Dwight's, sign Asik from Chicago, and keep our 3 rookies. That would have me higher than a kite.
