I'm trying to not fall in love with these guys, there's a very good chance that one or two or all three will be gone soon.
Wait, is white really 6'8" in shoes? From the pic he looks to be just about Lamb's height but much more sturdily built.
Chad Ford and I are in lock step agreement about the draft: -------------------------------------------------- HOUSTON ROCKETS | GRADE: C Round 1: Jeremy Lamb (12), Royce White (16), Terrence Jones (18) Round 2: None Analysis: If I were giving grades for creativity and vision, then Rockets GM Daryl Morey gets an A. For a week leading up to the draft, he led the Rockets on a breathless, all-out pursuit of Dwight Howard. It was both bold and unprecedented. However, the execution fell far short of the vision. Ultimately the Rockets couldn't package together their assets to get up into the Top 10 or Top 5 in the draft and the players they were left with look a lot like the young players they already have on their rosters -- middling young prospects. Don't get me wrong, I think Lamb, White and Jones all have futures in the NBA. Lamb's stock slipped a bit because of an ankle injury. White's stock slipped because of an anxiety disorder. Jones' stock slipped because of poor body language on the court. They may all be good players in the NBA. They all have that potential. But for the Rockets, they don't move the needle at all. For a team mired in the middle of the pack, that's not what the Rockets wanted or needed. ----------------------------------------------------------- http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft2012/story/_/id/8108926/2012-nba-draft-grades-every-team DD
White measure 3 inches taller than lamb, without shoes. Might be a bad angle on the pic and the way lamb is standing, relative to the other two..
I was slightly disappointed in this draft, expecting us to land Andre Drummond or PJIII. If we got those picks, I hoped that they wouldn't have gotten traded for 1 yr of DH12 unless D-Will was coming here (which he was NOT). However, it is wise for us to wait until training camp or the trade deadline to judge this draft. Obviously, we have a glut with all of these PF, they will undoubtedly be packaged with many trades ahead. I'm sure they will be packaged with Lowry, Scola, Martin, and Patterson. With no true centers outside of Camby on the roster, I think we will land a stud C, and a backup-PG . This roster will be sexy within the next few weeks to months . We have a good young group of players with some upgrades to come! PG: Dragic/? SG: Lamb/Lee SF: Parsons/T.Jones/Morris PF: Motiejunas/White C: ??/ Camby (Asik, or Hibbert?)
I didnt want to start a new thread and the draft is over but does this mean trading for Dwight Howard is no longer a possibility? Is it still possible to get him in during free agency, July 1st? Dont want to get too attached to these players. I really like Lamb, he could be a 20 ppg type of player. White and Jones are okay but I wouldnt mind trading them, possibly to Orlando.
There are currently still two threads about Dwight on the first page. We have not given up on him yet, and it's hard to see a team put together a better package than us of Orlando is indeed going the OKC rebuilding route.
People keep saying we can still trade these draft picks. After we sign them, we can't trade them til december, right? How long does it take to sign draft picks usually?
I pretty much couldn't disagree more. The rockets are "mired in the middle" because we don't have a lot of talent. All 3 players we got last night are extremely talented; they all have high ceilings; they all have all-star potential if they continue to develop. That's exactly what we need! Wtf is Chad Ford talking about?
