I understand the frustration which prompted this question.

    It's a futile gesture though.

    But I feel your pain.

I actually want competency more. If a government official is spotless but don't know what he is doing, he will do more harm than someone who is great at running the show but also have some shady dealings on the side.

Why is he considered not knowing what he is doing? What exactly have he done that is incompetent? Other than his loose tongue?

It's important to me, thegary. I don't walk around wondering about it, but I'd like to think that I possess at least a modicum of integrity. There are some who post here, frequently starting threads in D&D, who seem to have lost whatever integrity that they may have had at one time. I can't explain why they are that way, and just try to avoid some of the worst of a bad lot. It can be difficult.

Insomuch as I think anything is important, or for as long as I'm able, yes. And I think it is better to have it than not. But if not, hey, it's just a ride. As far as I know people with integrity wind up in the same place as those without it.

I get all het up over my idea of integrity, because it's easy to forget that nothing very much matters, or if you like to think of it in a more pleasant or crowd-pleasing way, nothing is worth getting all worked up over. I expect that's a nicer way to put it.

But as long as we are men, humans I mean and living, I think it is better to be men of our words, better to walk our talk, or live our faith if you like, and that it would be better to lend a hand when we're able rather than stepping over our brothers as they lay in the street.

Integrity is important because without it, it is impossible to preserve your honor.

As a gentleman honor is the most important thing there is. I believe it's far better to keep your honor than anything else. If it means you're poor, and lose your home, you'd still be better off having honor.

If it means that you die, but preserve your honor, then do it.

Isn’t integrity defined by holding strong to your personal beliefs? Wouldn’t that mean integrity is different for everyone? I often think that people judge someone’s integrity based on their own personal views. This would be counterproductive.
