For you atheists out there, what is your stance on the spirit world?

    That's because "belief" in a specific deity is a social statement rather than an assertion of truth. Your friends probably just hate authority, weddings and/or conservatives.

    This guy in one of my classes in college found out I was an atheist and at first kind of freaked out. He got over it, as most do, pretty quickly.

    About a week later, he came up to me and told me he had read part of the Book of Satan. I just looked at him blankly (I don't even know what the Book of Satan is). After a few seconds of quiet, he asked, a little upset: "Wait... you don't believe in the devil either?!?! So, you just don't believe in ANYTHING?"

    This, oddly enough, seemed to bother him more than me not believing in a deity.

    Well, there are those who think that they were dealt a losing hand. The cards were stacked against them.

    all of us sheltered exbaptists had that same experience at some point when on a college campus for the first time... :grin:
