I booked a flight to go to Rio in February, for a long weekend. Anyone been there during carnival? Hotels are either fully booked or unbelievably expensive. Airbnb? Any advice? Thanks.
Lucky bas***d. We liked the Hotel Ibis, downtown near Santos Dumont. Near Parque/Praia Flamengo. Neither cheap nor super-duper-uper expensive. IF it's still available.

About how much is that trip going to cost you? I'm sure they raise the rates on everything during Carnival. I sure would love to go one of these days.
I guess that depends on whether I go to the place IBTL recommended :grin:. The flight is about € 1,300 or so. I haven't found a place to stay yet. Yes...unfortunately. I don't know, it's an unreasonable trip, but I just thought I should do it before the world ends in 2012 .
