I was going to say more win more than 43 games, but with the likely lockout, who knows whether the season will be 82 games or substantially less.

So, anyway, if you have to over/under bet now, assuming there is a 2011-2012 season, where would you put your money on the question of whether the Rockets will have a higher winning % than they did last year?

Just curious what everyone's expectations are.

Another 9th seed would be painful.

Definitely lower. We traded away Battier for a useless player and a draft pick. We let go of a HOF coach and are about to hire an interim coach. Everything points to a youth movement. Who knows if even Martin or Scola will be with the team come opening night.

I expect the Rockets to have a better record every year. Look at it this way. I don't think we will be rebuilding at all next season because we have been rebuilding on the fly for the past two. During that time we have managed to get all of our young players on the same page. The only two things that bother me are the new coaching hire and the lockout( if it occurs ). Other than that, we can come out of this draft in a good position to still be competitive. I am not crazy about the idea of trading Martin for a pick, but doing so would not set us back too much. We wouldn't suffer from the loss of Scola because of the great play of Patterson. Losing Lowry wouldn't hurt either because of Dragic and the potentially good PG's in this PG heavy draft. We have one of the youngest teams in the league and were still able to finish the season above .500. That, in itself, says a lot.

Remember 3-4 more wins would have put us anywhere from 6th-8th.

More T-Will and more J-Hill means more losing, not more winning.

With the current roster, I think we could have a slightly better win percentage.

However, I think there will be some trades that sacrifice now to get better in the future.

If we dump Kevin or Luis, less.

    If we stay together, more.

Why do you think they'll play more of these two instead of, say, the guys who were in the rotation after the trade deadline (Patterson, Lee, Dragic and the starters) if they don't perform?

I have a difficult time we'll do better without one of the better coaches in the league.

    Nope.

We are going to strip down and start over. Expect a lot of young guys to play heavy minutes.

Lets get this rebuilding over with fast.

3 or 4 more wins would have gotten us a lower draft pick ....

Ask again when we know who is going to be on the roster next season.

I think the front office will have more control over who plays and who doesn't. And they'll have less incentive than Adelman did last season to win each and every game. So they'll probably want Williams and Hill to get some playing time, if for nothing else to flip them to another team.

I would prefer if we rebuild, this is the one season we can do quick and painless.

Possible, and reading that turns my stomach. I want them to win every game. I want them to go 82-0. I'm just wired that way. The only time I'm cool with "tanking" is when it's the end of the season, everything's decided, and one or two wins will cause you to miss out on your target in the draft (see Van Gundy, Jeff). The way the lottery is now, you can have the worst record in the league and not get the top pick. There are no coin flips to determine going first or second, which nabbed us two superstars in a row, Sampson and Olajuwon. They changed the rules because of the Rockets (not the only time they've changed the rules because of something Houston had success at, either).

Tanking for the lottery, especially one that isn't deep at the top, is a fool's mission, IMO. Win the ****ing games.
