Since I don't clap my hands for everything Trvmp does, I assume I'm a leftist to the board's war gang, and I see broad strokes are painted for what I "want"... well, okay, here's exactly what I want:

I don't want a loss of a single US service member (never mind more than a dozen and counting) for an elective fight with Iran. I hope not a single US service member is so much as injured in the coming days. Not a single sprained ankle on a stairway. I don't want the death of a single innocent Iranian citizen or child for an elective fight with Iran either. (I do imagine someone's child in our military, because I've worked with a lot of students who are now serving in theater. I have always had ROTC students, and they're amazing kids. But I also imagine a hundred girls in a school getting blown to bits by our tax dollars -- that should not feel good to any of us.) I don't want us to spend a single dollar for an elective fight with Iran.

And if we choose war with Iran, I want the executive branch to follow the constitution for Congressional authorization. I want a clear case made to the American people for why it's absolutely necessary. "Uh, they were about to attack us? Their nuclear program is magically strong again? Trust us?" does not cut it.

Now that we've started, I hope our military achieve's our POTUS's aims (regime change, he says), or that some end can be negotiated, and that we wrap up the war quickly. The fact that I'm hopeful for a quick end to the war but not necessarily optimistic does not make me anti-American; it makes me an American using his God-given brain.

 

Whoever these imaginary "leftists" are, they must be some really bad people.

the goal of "let's install a Trump friendly regime in 3 days by just doing the minimum" was right up there with Putin invading Ukraine in terms of being incredibly unrealistic and obviously idiotic but since Old Man Syphilis is surrounded by brain dead sociopaths and sycophants it went forward anyway.

The other problem is that the US military has been degraded and purged by MAGA and isn't able to cope with drone based warfare over a massive area.
