Tyren Montgomery at the top of the 5th would be a great pick. Dynamic athlete, great work ethic and he's from the Woodlands.
That's the thing: he's not a TE You can use him in a lot of formations, but you can't ask him to sit on the edge and block anyone without help, which defeats the purpose of a TE
How did the Texans get by with OD all of those years? These same things were said about Fannin last yr.
Right. And they didn't use Fannin (I loved him in the last draft, btw, look it up) as an in-line TE, they moved him around...pretty much just exactly like I said you would use Stowers.
Make him an H-Back. I know that position has kinda dissolved in the current NFL, but he's the type of athlete that would thrive at that position and give us some different looks.
You could be right, but I'm not going to analyze a bunch of tape to find out. On paper though, they kind of profile pretty similarly with Andrews being one year behind schedule because he was drafted one year later. Cade Mays look like a bigger and more physical player that can play various positions, and Jake Andrews is more of a pure center.
Frank Wycheck! That was my offensive position in HS after I outgrew WR, so fun, got to do a little of everything
Haha, loved Frank, he was awesome weapon. For this draft, I'm really a pro Oscar Delp fan. He played the year with a hairline fracture in his foot so didn't do the combine, but will run at the GA Pro Day on 18 March. If he's in the 4.5 range, that will solidify for me that he should be our target. He was #1 TE recruit in his class and had crazy numbers his Sr HS year. At GA he was behind Bowers and Washington his first two years. He worked on his blocking and believe he could be a much better pro than college player.
I like Delp or Roush as an inline TE that could get up to speed beind Moreau but contrivute by playoff time. Also like Trigg and Endries as guys that could play move TE behind Schultz on the same timeline. Id pick on each with the 3rd or 4th rounders.
