The wait-and-see approach is fine overall, especially when you have a system that's been proven to work, and players that are entrenched in the system so it's not an area of need. That is the polar opposite of what the Texans have right now. The issue with what Nick and the coaching staff are doing is that WE ALREADY TRIED THIS APPROACH LAST YEAR AND IT FAILED. They will try and gaslight us into thinking that their approach last year was successful because it was an improvement on the previous season, disregarding the fact that it's been 3 ****ing seasons of the same horseshit from this GM. The fact is this team started 0-3, and had to dig out of a MASSIVE hole because they couldn't move the ****ing ball worth ****. They CANNOT afford to go into a similar hole this season to start, but they are using the EXACT same approach to the offensive line as last off-season. Rookies, mid-level starters, and journeymen are not going to maximize this attack no matter how you slice it.

DeMeco is a great defensive head coach, and a wonderful leader of men. No denying any of that. But the truth is this offense has regressed each year Stroud has been at the helm, and all of that has happened under DeMeco's watch too. He HAS to accept responsibility for this, and allocate his time and attention to the offense this season....and frankly, it starts now. The fact that HE'S not burning Caserio's door down for an improvement on the line is very troubling. If anything, DeMeco has been the one to show that HE can maximize average talent in strategic positions on the defensive side of the ball, and it's the offense that needs to bring in bona fide starter-level players in the trenches and skill positions. Yet it's the defense that continues to get the lion's share of the money allocated to it, and it just makes no sense to me.

    That chart is amazing!

Didn't the Titans make a huge splash on free agents a couple of years ago? L'Jarius Sneed? Calvin Ridley? Tony Pollard?

    How did that turn out?

I'm LOATHE to defend Nick Caserio... but what they did last year was bargain-bin shop for offensive linemen. I don't sense that's what they're doing this year.

There were too many teams with money to burn who spent these last 24 hours completely demolishing the market because that's what bad teams have to do: overpay. It never made any sense for the Texans to play in that sanbox. They have a young roster that is about to get *very* expensive; their plan was always to be patient and/or get creative. Their moves are going to look like the Montgomery deal; not the Linderbaum deal. They are not going to throw wads of cash at a player.

Now that that initial money flood is over, they can hunt for players - not at discounts, per se - but below the insane market that was set yesterday. I suspect they'll be busy the rest of this week. There are still viable OL options available.

DeMeco seemingly handing the offense over to Caserio with what sure seems like complete authority is mind-boggling. But... at least he's on the same page as his offensive coaches and he's working in a system he's very familiar with. Fingers are crossed.

Hope he’s good. He’s supposed to be good in pass pro. Glad to see an o-line signing.

If we draft another tackle I’ll actually start to feel good about having the bookends covered for the long term.

Fans tend to not count resignings... but bringing Ingram back + Brown, who will now be excellent swing tackle depth, were both vital moves.

I don't know how good Ingram is - but having some continuity on a line that is likely to have three new starters - possibly a rookie - is important; as is having a viable plan B at T. If they can sign Teller and then use all of their draft picks on linemen - I SAID ALL OF THEM! - I'll be pretty happy.

Since we signed Smith...I assume we are definitely drafting C high in this draft. Also depends on if Teller signs also. I can see the Texans trading out of the 1st round into the 2nd and 3rd for OG and C...2 of either Bisontis, Pregnon, Rutledge, Lew, Hecht, or Sluaghter? I assume they'll also pick a DL high in the 2nd round or CB.
