I totally get that. Again, if there were infinite resources and no salary cap, I'd have no problem with this. I get he's a really good player. Our defense was about as good as it gets last season...our offense was very much not. Given a salary cap, this isn't where I'd prefer they allocate this much of their allotment.

I think if Nick had a plan for the O-line it would have materialized on Day 1, other than Ed Ingram.

This is suppose to be a SUPER BOWL YR, for sure a DECIDING YR on your Rookie QB and you let your best O-line walk out the door w/o having someone lined up to be signed on Day 1 of FA.

Players and agents talk all the time! After trading Howard, I knew he had something lined up.

And these fans think CJ is the MAIN problem. He is supposed to read the defense, make the calls, throw the ball, AND block at the same time.

tytus was good not great and needed a new contract. They can’t afford multi year deals for all these positions. They knew they had Trent brown on a 1 years deal

And these fans think CJ is perfect, when he is very clearly a big part of the problem

Vandermeer and John Harris are 100% company men, they will never say anything bad. I think Seth calls it like it is and gives rational takes

Safety was a problem last year; Pitre doesn't really play it in this defense and teams exploited whoever was across from Bullock. It would not outrank OL or RB, in terms of my own priorities - but it needed to be addressed.

I cannot, however, get my head around safety being the position that gets their biggest free agent contract. We'll see how the rest of the week plays out, and I'll concede some of these OL prices are absurd - but this nickel-and-dime'ing the offensive line... it just defies common sense. What are they doing?

I agree 10000%....I'd love to be surprised with them doing something different, but not holding my breath.

How do you know he's picking? Maybe he's letting Popovich decide who is a fit?

I'm saying Green was a miss. 1st rounders are typically 50% bust chance.

2nd rounders he's 1 for 4. An average is 1 for 3. So if he hits on the next one he's above average.

I think if you applied the same stabdard to other teams you would be surprised.

    49ers 2nd round picks:
    Alfred Collins
    Renardo Green
    Drake Jackson
    Aaron Banks
    Deebo Samuel

    Deebo hit

Banks, meh, still in league as starter, not probowler

Jackson, complete bust, in Washington now

Green, starter for them, nothing special

Collins, bench player so far, 1 start, about 500 snaps

Depends on the value and the draft talent. If they like 2 safeties in the draft and 8 lineman, I can understand the move.

****ing Popovich. He's going to screw us from getting a real center for this offensive line.
