The weirdest part about Trump's statement is that less than 24 hrs before Hegseth said "this is only just the beginning."

"The ability for us to be up over the top and hunting with more conventional munitions, gravity bombs, 500-pound, 1,000-pound, 2,000-pound bombs on military targets-- that-- we haven't even really begun to start that effort of the campaign, which is gonna showcase even more how-- how we will execute on those objectives," Hegseth added.

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/hegseth-us-strikes-iran-trump-plans-60-minutes-transcript/

Then Trump talked to Putin, and subsequently says “I think the war is very complete, pretty much." :p

    I'm not sure.

The tourism will take a hit because psychologically people won't forget this quickly. Safety is the number one selling point for moving/visiting here. I would guess it will require a few years of PR. I've never been a fan of an economy that relies heavily on tourism. It's too flimsy/volatile and the country starts getting catered to foreigners rather than citizens. Not too sad about this.

For the past 5 or so years we were already transitioning heavily away from middle income Western tourists and more towards high income Asian, Arab and African tourists. I'm not sure if those people will care much about this once it's done. If I had to guess I think we'll get 20% fewer tourists for 5 years.

Another danger is I don't know how many resident expatriates have left for good. Judging by the number of loans, leased cars and pets left behind it may be a bigger problem than we have the numbers for. That's a significant chunk of people who spend great and stable money here.

I don't know if people realize that things are going on as normal here. There's been a huge "back to work" push for a few days and for better or worse everyone's on board. It's been largely quiet from a missile perspective for a few days minus the airport scare. Almost all the attacks have not been in town. The government has told businesses that they will be punished if they increase the price of food.

I think some economic loss is expected but my opinion is they have learned a valuable lesson about the need for more sovereignty and independence.

Trump cast the war with Iran as a "little excursion" during a retreat at one of his properties for House Republicans. Of course it was held at one of his properties. Gotta keep up the grift.

He still won't accept responsibility for bombing a school of kids on his little excursion.

He said that Iran was a "dark cloud" hanging over Israel and the region.

"I think they were looking to take over the Middle East," Trump said. "Within a week, they were going to attack us."

I'm gonna raise the BS flag on him as usual. He's so full of sh*t saying they were gonna attack us within a week. If anything, he's poked the bear for terrorism attacks down the road. It might not be this year, but you better bet there will be revenge, especially by those that hated America already.

His stock and oil futures transactions were obviously successful. No more need for a war.

He's lying that it's over . Hes trying to calm the markets . It's soothing them but oil will be up again tomorrow if then bombing continues tonight.

Will we really leave when Iran has started to increase its drones and missile launches ? Will netanyahu let us hang him out to dry ? No

Trump is irresponsible enough to open Pandora's box and walk away , but he will be pressured into staying .

Nah, its done. They thought they'll get the mission accomplished fast, but it didn't happen. Nothing else to do but to walk away. I believe its over.

If he walks away without regime change he would have humiliated himself severely. He swore numerous times the goal was regime change and anything less than that will be looked as a major L. He's boxed himself in a corner with no way out

No, its Trump he'll just say it was won like never before, Iran is done or as he said last time "obliterated", n then if some **** goes down again he'll sing a different tune. This time it was a regime change, next time it'll be something else. Politicians, thats what they do.

    Another TACO moment from Trump?

he does some dumb sh*t: the stock market crashes, prices soar, the economy starts looking shaky, then he backs down to try and minimize the damage ultimately ending up with him doing all the fckery for no reason and America being worse off

but no matter what happens, we know there’s a group of elites who just enriched themselves mightily over this as is par for the course with all of his stupid decisions while regular Americans going broke at the gas station

This is typically what happens when a population suddenly gets attacked by outsiders. I hope the, um, adults in charge planned carefully for this in Operation Epic Furball.

Bush's approval on 9/10/2001 was like 51% and then crested near 90% by the end of the month. And he didn't really do that much after we were attacked but show the concerned face and give a couple of speeches. (I'm not throwing shade; he did fine before letting people talk him into the Iraq mess.)

Going into Afghanistan was understandable, but Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. That was all Bibi (he wanted U.S. to invade Iraq).

lol What did weaccomplish? I hear Iran said; "No thank you". How can you end a war without negotiations unless youhave negotiations or complete unconditional surrender. Itis hard to negotiate with people who have a recent history of negotiations they see as a chance to kill their opposing party. There are reports supposedly in Israeli media (censureship prohibits pictures or photos) that Bibi's house was hit and that fascist Ben Gvir sp? was injured.
