I personally wouldn't have signed him to that contract, but not my $$$ Just wary of a guy who has not shown it until a contract year. Fingers crossed
Were you for the Kubiak/Shanny nepotism? I see the Pats winning 9-10 games this yr. A step back, but still very good.
I'd be really curious as to what the organizations opinion of Blake Fisher is at this point. Do they still hold out hope that he'll develop into a starter? Have they seen enough to give up on him but keep him around as a somewhat competent backup? I know when he was drafted it was based more on potential than what he had actually shown to date, so they probably felt like it would be a long game to turn him into a starter, but my uneducated offensive line brain hasn't seen much movement in his development so far.
Do you think they resigned Ingram because they know what they are getting with him? As opposed to a maybe greater gamble with a basically known, unknown FA pickup. Agreed concerning a possible drop off in the non contract years. At least we don't still need two guards now.
Some on this MB think the ol was terrible last yr. If that's true then bringing back 3/5ths of last years ol should make them very unhappy.
True. I guess maybe they also resigned Ingram to make sure there was a veteran lined up next to Ersery. Plus Ingram's gap scheme blocking numbers were surprising slightly better than Linderbaum's in gap last year.
I think keeping Ingram around was critical once they moved Howard. The investment is steeper than I would have liked but I think that is where the market is heading so maybe not an overpay so much as going rate for a compteent starter. Now Ingram just needs to show last year wasnt a contract year outlier.
I have not seen the exact #'s - just those reported to the media initially (prolly by his agent). Where are you getting your data? And yes... I would be much more comfortable re-signing Ingram to that contract.
Continuity on the offensive line is so important. It was big part of the early struggles last year. It is so much nicer to have 3 returning starters (if we count Trent Brown as a starter and assuming we are upgrading at center) than having only 2.
I concur, but we have to upgrade OC and LG, and bring in either a LT or RT to compete with Ersery, Brown and Fisher.
I think they like Andrews more than the fanbase does. I could totally see a scenario where he is the starting center with a rookie they draft to groom as his replacement should his contract demands exceed their value of him. Maybe Pat Coogan or Logan Jones?
Which would be THREE OL busts in a row for Caserio on 1st/2nd round OL picks. Hopefully Aireonte breaks the streak and I believe that will be the case.
You may be right. We'll see if they go after Mays or wait until the draft to add competition. I'm hoping we add Mays. I want more size in the interior.
