We need someone that will get us an actual #1 pick franchise player though. Maybe Nico Harrison is available.
It hurts my soul that since we began our rebuild, Wenbanyama, Cade Cunningham and Cooper Flagg all entered the league and we didn't get any of them.
I've been saying that once you strip off the ancillary changes, the difference between Silas and Udoka when it comes to our young players is actually quite minimal. Sengun's offensive skills actually peaked in year 2 (under Silas) and year 3 (first year under Udoka) before regressing. His defense obviously sucked during the Silas year but he's now sucking again under Udoka despite miles better teammates. Jalen obviously was not great with Silas and didn't really improve with Udoka. Jabari played better, yes, but he's a big man who had Nix and KPJ as his PG under Silas, and max player FVV under Udoka. Tari has been Tari the whole time. Not to mention Silas had the directive to tank while he was coaching. People keep talking about Udoka being the culture guy. Maybe he wasn't so much the culture guy as was FVV and Brooks. Both are not playing this year and the culture doesn't look nearly as good.
That would require someone who can alter the laws of physics as the best possible odds you can achieve to get the #1 are considerably against you even if you win 0 games.
When a player gets noticed teams know how to play you and get really good at exploiting weakness both on the offensive and defensive sides. Sengun when competing against larger centers often does not do well at all. Teams who don't have that simulate that by delaying and rotating a 2nd player through his passing lane. That's why Sengun shined when Adams was out there with him because our chances under the basket of a 2nd shot were at their highest. I think he's better as a 4 but you need a strong 5 for that to work which we don't really have.
