Fertita family need to sell the franchise. he can have UH, fine whatever. Let the pros run by actual millionaire not a fake one.
Some people are upset the rockets don't have anything to cover the losses of FVV and Adams. But, I'm actually happy we didn't get a bandaid to cover for what we're missing without them. If we had a stop gap PG and maybe another defender to play inside with Sengun then it wouldn't be so obvious to everyone that this iteration of the team just doesn't work.
There were some guards available at the deadline they could've traded for that may have been a solid addition to the team not only for this season but the future too (e.g., Ayo Dosunmu, Anfernee Simons, etc.). The lack of shooting/guard depth was an issue before FVV's injury and Stone should've done something about it much earlier.
I think the important question is what can they do this summer to turn it around? I don't think FVV's return post-ACL tear is enough. I still think we need another ball-handler and another shooter. I suggested Ty Jerome prior to the trade deadline. He has been outstanding in the 10 games since he's been back. I think DFS and a choice first-round pick would be an appealing offer for Ty Jerome.
The league generally has not given Jerome his flowers, dude is definitely a Top 55 or Top 60 type of talent.....and not Top 100 as he was ranked in various media publications.
Look at the Spurs and look at us. They started the rebuild around when we did. Thank Ime for making us a winning franchise but this team needs to get rid of Ime and Stone this offseason.
I agree with this in the sense a lot of dominos have to fall for big changes has to happen. Speaking personally, I can control my own engagement with the team and fandom. Pre-game, during game, post game...etc My own viewing habits. I'll still be a fan, but my time is valuable, and if the team is not serious, the fans aren't obligated as well. After the GSW and this Spurs game, I think some sort of new leadership is needed. Is it likely to change?.... probably not, in which case, I can just enage with the team a little less and spare myself the disappointment.
As much as Ime has frustrated me this season, I can’t put most of the blame on him because the roster is so fundamentally unbalanced. The lack of guards, DFS being a non-entity, Sengun’s regression, etc… it sucks we don’t have a franchise player after 4 top 4 draft picks, but that’s where we are. And we just aren’t gonna compete against OKC or SA until we do. We’ve got several excellent prospects that can be high end complimentary players, but we don’t have the guy. And I think that’s why it’s extra frustrating to be frozen out of this generational 2026 draft. This is all a big indictment of our front office. I honestly think we have to reset the timeline around Amen, Reed and Bari if we are being real with ourselves. We don’t even really have a player you can for sure say is better than Austin Reeves. If we can’t get into this 2026 draft we have to go all in on 2027. Make some tough decisions to move off KD, Sengun, DFS, Steveo and extend the rebuild. But I fear we will go star chasing and forgo the approach of building a sustainable team the way SA and OKC did.
Amen and I don’t mean Thompson. Thanks OP for a thread I would have started if I wasn’t ridiculously banned for ironically being too anti-Stone. As usual, I was the first to call out what everyone else eventually figured out. I should be a treasure on this site, but get zero respect from Clutch and the moderators.
We’ll be okay next year because we have a top three (Brooklyn unprotected) pick in one if the greatest upcoming drafts ever.
That Brooklyn pick won't be as good as you think it will be. As they have no incentive to tank, the Nets will be much better next season. They have the cap space to bring in a couple solid starters in free agency. Their five rookies will improve. They have an excellent coach. They'll be close to .500 next season. Hoping that pick will save us would be a mistake.
I mostly blame him. I don’t blame him for Amen or Sengun’s lack of jumper or Fred getting hurt(although he did grind him like he’s doing KD), but play style, roster construction, older team, I do mostly blame him.
I think the lack of guards and overabundance of wings / forwards is exactly what Ime wanted and Stone gave it to him. I don't need a 2 guard, I'll run a forward as a 2 guard - one of Tari, KD, Tate, Okogie or Amen If all you had to begin the league year as guards was FVV, Reed & Holiday, you know that's what they intended.
If Stone is nothing but a facilitator GM then what value does he provide? I still think Ime is a top 5 NBA coach that Stone lucked into because Udoka got fired for having an affair in Boston. I'm not firing Udoka just yet. I think the best move is to bring a fresh set of eyes in to look at the state of the roster. Someone who isn't attached to any players on the current roster and can make the moves that are in the best long term interests of the team.
Controlled the cost with sneakily decent contracts for teh Tilman Ferntits. Yes man, polk high GM. I think Tilman only knows the Rockets from the 90s when he was a fan but owning a modern NBA team is very different. Even Ballmer could not turn the Clippers around totally.
When are people going to realise Stone is here to purely be a face to protect lil Patty. And will be here until the day daddy names Patty as the GM.
