This is one of the few reasonable posts on this topic. Let's see how Alpi looks next season with an actual point guard in the rotation. He is dribbling 26 feet through traffic and then struggles to finish gracefully. Did everyone expect he would become Donovan Mitchell? He's at least the third most talented player on this roster. Let's get a ****ing point guard then see how it looks.
It’s because of KD being on the team. I think the team is too reliant on KD to do something now and it taken his game way.
Sengun’s efficiency was still sh*t last year playing next to FVV…he had similar efficiency to freaking Jalen Green How are we still going with that excuse? he misses layups right at the rim…he can’t shoot a lick from the outside…he can’t make free throws none of that is changing with FVV Sengun hasn’t made any real improvement to his game in years, and that’s why he’s struggling the league has figured him out
Ime has lost the locker room. No one is taking him seriously anymore. Not even Alpi who supposedly loves to be humiliated.
Before he got drafted the draft scouting report was right on him, that's why team passed on him. And we keep trying to hide his flaws or make excuses for it.
I hate how when you actually watch the games, it’s obvious that Sengun is the biggest problem, but casuals who only check the box score will never see it. They’ll look at his numbers and think he played well, when in reality a lot of those stats are empty and don’t reflect what’s actually happening on the court.
The starters around Sengun went 2-8 from 3 Sengun has looked horrible and the on off +- shows he's the biggest negative on our team. He also lead the team in on off +- last season and it was clear as day he was our best player and made the team so much better when on court. What happened? Our spacing got a lot worse. % of FGA from 3 - Fred (.607), Brooks (.524), and Jalen (.460) for Eason (.475), KD (.323), and Amen (.123) KD operates in the mid range, Amen is a non shooter, Eason is solid on the season but he started off unbelievably hot and is shooting 25% over the last 15 games. Jalen Fred and Brooks were all guys who could consistently give you 5+ threes a night if left open, and we're all generally players who sat behind the 3PT line. Sengun may be having a rough stretch / season, but it's REALLY hard to believe he went from the best player on the team to the worst overnight at 23 years old. Something is wrong. Spacing, an injury, a mental breakdown, I'm not sure, but Im not buying that this is the new/real him.
Yes advance numbers are not good, but casuals look at points and his other numbers and think he isnt the problem. There is a reason why he isnt playing heavy minutes while we see amen, kd and etc play 35 plus minutes.
Tired of the excuses because the other guys on the team has improved besides him. I think its more mental, if u watch he is thinking way too much. He isnt having fun either. There is a big difference from the first 25 games vs the last 30 games.
Our first 25 games our entire offense was doing great Are we to believe that Sengun playing great for an 100 game stretch is a fluke? That him having the best on-off splits for all of last season, and a +24 for the playoffs was bullshit, and the truth is he's actually the worst player on our team, a flaming bag of **** on both ends? I'm just saying, something is wrong, I don't think it makes sense to judge his future with the team based off of whats happening right now like a lot of fans are. "its so clear, HE'S the problem, look at his splits, look at how obvious it is he's making us worse, we need to trade him" doesn't make sense to me when he was clearly the best player on the team last year, made the team much better, had the best on off splits, lead us in BPM, VORP, WS.
Sengun has shown promise his entire time in the league. Since he was not a lottery pick, I think many fans have seen him as an underdog and probably overrated his value compared to the scouting concerns. Sengun marginally improved his defense and stamina last year. The team improved as Sengun got more minutes under Udoka. I think Sengun's international performance and new salary raised expectations. He has not made the leap offensively many of us were expecting. We are in year two of Sengun struggling to make shots. You can't have that kind of usage shooting so poorly and turning the ball over like he has. Now Sengun is experiencing the backlash. I think Sengun would clearly play better with Fred and with a different offensive scheme, but I think his physical limitations may be more significant than I thought they were.
Nothing is wrong other than hes soft & hasn't added anything to his game. Instead of expanding his game he chose to double down on the one legged flamingo. That flamingo shot is the worst shot ive ever seen. Defensively he's regressed & he's not physical enough to keep up with the better teams bigs. Stop the excuses
He's soft, hasn't added to his game, doubled down on flamingo, regressed on D, isn't physical, and stop the excuses is why he went from best player on the team to worst between the ages of 22 to 23 without any major injuries.
It’s possible that he is trying to make it the playoffs. I know he played at his highest level all summer long. There is a chance he is worn out. Hopefully he has a second gear or switch he can use.
Whatever the excuse may be, I think it's fair to say Sengun will be on the trading block this summer. He's a very good player. We often focus on what he can't do rather than, say, his playmaking. But the turnovers are negating the playmaking. (KD's a turnover machine, too, but not having FVV isn't helping in at least that regard.) He's been a step / half-step slow for a while. He started out gangbusters, even shooting three pointers!, but now he looks like Kung Fu Panda on 3 hours worth of sleep. Opponents know what he's going to do well before he does.
