The question was, "What do you want to say about President Trump's plans to put troops on the ground? As you know it has largely been an air campaign until now."

Her response, "It has been and will continue to be, but the President wisely does not remove options from off of the table."

It's a 30 second clip. It's not hard to verify before posting. You and I & others may not like that answer, but she certainly didn't say what you claimed.

Maybe focus first on this: are you fine with American troops on the ground as long as there is not a draft? That is what you are implying here, though I am sure that is not what you meant.

 

She wasn't talking about a draft. That wasn't the question. She was answering about whether troops on the ground were an option. She said it's not part of the plan right now, but the President doesn't remove options from off the table.

Now the chances of a draft happening are 0

A draft was mentioned in the lead up though. For any normal press spokesperson, that would have been a red flag and the first thing to do before answering the last question would be to irrefutably take that off the table.

But let's be honest here. If the parties were reversed, right-wing media would immediately frame it out as if a draft was in play and make it a story for two weeks or more.

(One thing I hate about modern media personalities is they tend to pontificate before asking a question, which allows the politician to pick out whatever topic they want and answer the question they want to answer. Shorter, more direct questions are better, especially in an interview like this where you have a chance to follow-up.)

 

She said nothing about a draft. How is this even a debate? It was one question, "What do you want to say about the President's plans to put troops on the ground?"

I can also see that levitt did nothing to shut down draft talk .
